Except that some of us want their living room to still look like a living room and not a recording studio

If you want great audio, aesthetic sacrifices must be made. Beneficial sacrifices, not slaughter a goat on an alter type sacrifices.

Audio is half the experience which is why I wanted to upgrade, and I have a nice system now. I think once I get an HDR display and there is more Atmos and DTS:X content, I will upgrade my speakers. The receiver kicks arse tho!

Make sure the HDMi connection is listed as HDCP2.2 or it wont really pass thru 4K but simply perform 4K upscaling

You can even get small towers from Polk, etc... for a good deal. And I get that still isn't for everyone, but I have seen people spend $600 on a soundbar, that could have done better.
Ef950 ? I have the same TVs bro

I keep having a " No Signal problem " with this player. I've tried switching HDMI ports, but it only does it while watching DVD's? I've tried switching HDMI cords as well. I've got an exchange display coming from Vizio. I was curious if my settings in the player were setup wrong?

Ok so what is the verdict: is it best to play the UHD disc downscaled to 1080 or just use the 1080 bluray disc included with non-4K devices?
I am asking because along with my 4K Oled C6 I also just purchased a Sony VPL45 projector and I am not sure if I would get better PQ by playing the UHD disc or the HD disc

Good question and probably depends on the title and your equipment. Some titles will probably look a little better on a panasonic UB900 downscaled while some others have terriffic blu-rays already if you don't take upgraded audio into account.

There are plenty of folks using the Samsung to output 1080p just because they want the advanced audio. They seem to be happy.

For those titles in Dolby Atmos it is a no brianer: I will play the UHD disc downscaled to 1080 to make use of my dolby atmos home theater. But with other titles that come all in standard DTS H:Master, I am not sure if PQ on my HD projector will benefit more from regular bluray or UHD disc downscaled to 1080. I tried X-MenOFP and both formats looked great on my new projector, whether 1080 disc or 2160 disc downscaled to 1080. Hard to really tell without side by side comparisons.

You could get HDR on Amazon before.

Just what I heard on the other board.
If that is the case, then I really have no idea what the new firmware includes.
