Yes, the Avengers: Infinity War is a culmination of everything that came before it, but it needs to be a movie that can still pretty much stand on its own. It can't just be a collection of easter eggs and cameos thrown together and treated as a final act to a series of films and television shows. I'm sure we all want to see so-and-so and whatshisname, etc., and everyone will have some, even if limited, facetime, but the film needs to focus on what matters most for the story and whatever character interaction we do get needs to work within the confines of the film. Having familiarity with certain characters and certain events that we've been given in past films might be somewhat necessary for viewers, but really good direction and storytelling should still enable anyone to watch this movie with no prior knowledge of the past films if they haven't seen them, although it might not be the best way to view it..

It's going to be tricky, because there is a lot to juggle, and if it's not done right, it will be a giant mess. I think the first Avengers movie and CA: Civil War were great and were successful with pulling off something nearly impossible, but I think Marvel and The Russos really have their work cut out for them with difficulty when it comes to Infinity War and the epic scope of it compared to those two other films.

As did Nick Fury. You know SHIELD: it's a magical place.

Boom. There. Done. Coulson established as alive to Iron Man and without any convoluted explanation. The audience know that Nick Fury seemingly 'died' too so by reminding them of that they'd be showing there's nothing to question. Just let the audience either A: find out for themselves how Coulson survived or B: come up with their own theories.

Of course but there'd be no harm in the final battle showing all those faces arriving to help defeat Thanos. A cool nod for people who follow the TV Shows and just people teaming up to help the Avengers for everyone else. Coulson is the only one who needs an important cameo scene.

It doesn't do anything but create unneeded attention. It's not hard to create new superheroes. It's not like they follow the storylines 100%. We deserve better representation then "Hey look, we making this character black to show we all of a sudden care about diversity." That's my opinion on the thing.
agree - we need NEW characters full stop.
But if they can be geared towards the non-white male format, all the better

same
even though I love me som RDJ as Iron Man...I dont want it to get old and would rather seem him relegated to a Stark only role for the next phase before maybe being out of the MCU for good - though as Stark only, RDJ could potentially do another 20 odd years of MCU movies. But due to age, he NEEDS to retire the suit.

The IM3 ending needed to be later IMO

It is possible that they might do it in the comics one day given that Marvel have explored 'What if' storylines in the past.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR DIRECTORS ENDORSE ANNA KENDRICK AS SQUIRREL GIRL
POSTED BY JOSEPH MCCABE ON AUGUST 22, 2016

Well, this is certainly nuts. Remember earlier this summer when the ever charming Anna Kendrick announced she’d like to play Marvel’s fan-favorite character Squirrel Girl? Well, Yahoo Movies has spoken with Marvel’s two top directors, Joe and Anthony Russo (who helmed Captain America: Civil War and will next tackle Avengers: Infinity War), about Kendrick’s remarks, and the two have expressed their support for this impeccable pairing of actor and role:

“It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans,” said Joe Russo.

Brother Anthony, however, immediately added that the two have their “hands full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters.”

Joe then remarked, “Anthony would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character.”

Which prompted Anthony to say, “That’s not to say we’re not going to introduce a new character.”

While it’s still unlikely that Squirrel Girl will figure into Infinity War (this “new character” slot could well turn out to be Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, on whom the directors plead the fifth), now that Kendrick has the support of both Edgar Wright and the Russos, is it really beyond reason to expect the rodent-themed adventurer to appear on screen at some point?

There is no way there's going to be a Marvel Studios Squirrel Girl movie. It's too ridiculous and basically just a joke idea by Marvel Comics.

Default Marvel's 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018)

I disagree. Squirrel Girl is huge and I could definitely see a film happening

If they can make a movie with a big blue guy, a hot green girl, a talking raccoon and a humanoid tree, they can have Squirrel Girl. I do doubt she'll get her own movie but I can see her popping up at some point.

That would look ridiculous on the big screen. Works in a comic but even in the more light-hearted MCU, how can anyone take it seriously in live-action?

Ant-Man wasn't a joke idea though. Squirrel Girl clearly was intended as a joke by the creators.

I can maybe see her appearing as an on-screen joke similar to Howard the Duck in Guardians of the Galaxy but nothing more than that. Squirrel Girl could possibly work as a cartoon though.

Trust me, we will want Anna Kendrick as Squirrel Girl. People thought Ant-Man was a joke, too. All the die hard Anna fans (that loves her music and Pitch Perfect) would actually see it.

Yep. The beauty of the MCU is you can explore different genres. A comedy, within the MCU, could be different and fun. There's humor in the MCU movies, but none of the films are outright comedies. I'd love to see that side of the MCU. Ant-Man worked because it had that self aware nature of the character. It would be great to see them do something similar with Squirrel Girl.

Yea, as you keep saying, Marvel should be dark/gritty.

I imagine the creation and talks of any new character is a fun thing to do. If it's fun, then why not try it out and ride with it? And you can't be clear it was done as a joke as you weren't there at the time of creation,.. business is business.
