Default The Blu-ray.com Community Top 25 Remakes (Films) of All Time!! (Read Rules)

So I been debating between doin remakes or sequels and I settled on remakes. So its very simple. List your top 25 remakes of all time. To qualify the film has to be a remake of a previous film. Adaptations from tv shows dont count. Also Sequels & Prequels dont count. Just use your best judgment and if you truly think a film is a remake then list it. If not then leave it off. Im sure the films that most dont consider a remake wont get many votes anyway.

How does it work? It's easy. You come up with a list of what you think are the Top 25 Remakes of all time. Based on how they place on your list, the movie will receive a certain amount of points. The Top 20 films on your list will be scored accordingly:

1. 20 Points
2. 19 Points
3. 18 Points
4. 17 Points
5. 16 Points
6. 15 Points
....
12. 9 Points
13. 8 Points
14. 7 Points
15. 6 Point

Every movie placed after the 20th spot will also receive 1 point. So essentially, you only have to rank the Top 20 while putting the remaining 5 in no particular order.

RULES
1. You may base your list on best/favorites Remake films of all time or however it works for u. To me best/favorites go hand in hand for the most part. It doesn't matter how bad the film may be perceived by everyone else this is your opinion only so dont be afraid to list what u feel u want to list!

2. Do NOT put multiple movies at the same ranking. Don't put 3 films at the number one spot then start the list at 4 following it. Put only ONE film at each rank, or I won't count your list.

3. Since this is for fun and discussing movies should be fun, be respectful of each other. If somebody has Day of the Dead remake at number 1, who cares? The point of the thread is to find out what the community as a whole thinks is the top Remake film of all time.

4. Deadline: September 22nd, 2016 12am PST. That gives you 1 month to make your list. I wont take any lists after this. So make sure you get it in before then. This should be plenty of time to make a list.

This should be fun and looking forward to the turn out! Got Em!!

I'm debating if I want to do a list at all. After 15 movies I feel like I'm stretching it with a lot of mediocrity.

No I am only counting films that are remakes of a previous film! So go based on that criteria. Titanic doesnt count. Got Em!!

How about readaptations as he mentioned? Some people would consider Girl With The Dragon Tattoo or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as remakes and I suppose you could, but they are actually just going based off the book again.

Hey Czar Disturbia isn't a remake. I'd love to include it myself if it was, but it is just a movie with a similar plot.

Only if they are considered remakes. A separate adaptation doesnt count. if you research the films in question you will know if its considered a remake of some sort. I just want to keep it simple and just use films that are atleast considered remakes. Got Em!!

Ok no problem. I would include Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but since it is a readaptation I'll leave it off.

Yes it is considered. I did research and its on all the remake list and it also says inspired by Rear Window meaning its basically a remake. Its not inspired by a book but another film. Got Em!!

Even though Fincher and co. say their Dragon Tattoo is a readaptation, he also himself admits on the commentary to being influenced by the Swedish movie to an extent (he even says he loved what Noomi Rapace does in her first one of THOSE scenes with Bjurman that he got Rooney Mara to do the same thing again). So in that sense, it is at least partially a remake. I'm counting it unless Czar says otherwise.

So movies inspired from something count? The people behind Rear Window took DreamWorks and Spielberg to court and lost because it wasn't similar enough. Heck the movie isn't even straight based on Rear Window.

"LaBeouf was attracted to the role because of the director's 2002 film*The Salton Sea, which he complimented as one of his favorite films. Before filming started, the two watched the thriller films*Rear Window,*Straw Dogs, and*The Conversationstarring*Gene Hackman. They also viewed the 1989romantic film*Say Anything...*and "mixed all the movies together."

It is not a remake. This is your list and you can include what you'd like, bit seriously it isn't a remake. It is no more of a remake then White House Down is of Olympus Has Fallen. Disturbia is just a movie with a similar basic premise. Whatever lists you saw that listed should read up on the back story behind it a bit more.

If it doesnt say inspired by a certain film online or atleast to that extent I wont count it. Seeing a director say it in a interview wont work because unless it specifys that I cant go by a interview. I just dont see anywhere that it is considered a remake or inspired by previous film. Thats why I dont want to include it. Got Em!!

Here we go again, I am including Disturbia so you can include it if you like, By my research it counts. Just go with it as it had enough evidence to be considered a remake. But when a film is adapted from a book and not another film and it particularly says that, then it wont count. Just use your best judgment and if any question, feel free to ask. Got Em!!
