1. Of course I'm impatient - that's what being an early adopter is all about, no?
2. I disagree on the "wasting money" part - and since it's my money we're discussing, my opinion is the one that matters. Even if/when one format falls, the player of the "dead" format will continue to play the movies I've purchased, just like always. Should the player break down, I could easily find a used one to replace it.

Again - no offense, but it sounds like you're trying to spend my money here. Maybe for you, investing more than $200 on a second movie player isn't reasonable/feasible unless it's going in a different location, but that's not the case for me. I made my purchases with my eyes wide open - I knew and accepted the inherent risks and haven't looked back.

So don't support both formats. What do I care?

the fact is...I am not telling anyone how to spend their money....the person who started this thread asked for opinions....I gave mine and I don't think it's smart to support both formats when you're just encouraging future wars...
Right, but the quote I responded to wasn't directed at the OP, it was directed at a dual-format owner. And you were telling him what was best for him, as if you would have any idea what's best for someone you've never met.

If you want there to be a single, unified format next time around, talk to the CE companies. They're the ones who did this - specifically Toshiba and Sony. They're the ones who couldn't reach a compromise and forced this war upon us. Since it's here, I'm taking advantage of the price and quality wars being waged right now - it's pretty great, imo. YMMV.
