The issue with digital releases though is internet connectivity and usually the price is rather high (even more expensive than a physical product, but it varies). DVD format is still more universal than blu-ray since the latter does not have portable players commonly found in stores (have to buy them online) or built into something. However, I think most people are pro-blu-ray (us young folks anyway), so at the very least, a combo pack option would be better than DVD only. I mean, it would require studios to make the blu-ray discs, but if they want to save money by releasing one product, shouldn't it be a combo pack so everyone is happy? They would still be saving money since there would not be a need for separate blu-ray/DVD releases (people can always sell / give away whichever they don't want).

I'd much prefer BD as well but if my only options are DVD or digital I'll choose the DVD every time. I'm not a fan of digital for movies (or games) only for music.
