It's not out of the question at all, but it depends on how much NIkkatsu want for it (probably either a lot or want to sell the whole 5 film package)
Thanks for the reply! Love & Peace was a fantastic release by the way – it's a big shame sales are low. But maybe "Anti-Porno" – with a title like that, and its pink film connections – will appeal to genre fans and y'know, fans of 'extreme' Sono movies who maybe weren't interested in the 'family friendly' Love & Peace (even though it's great). Anyways, depends on the reception and the price and your own opinion of it (I assume you haven't seen it yet?), but I'll cross my fingers.

By the way, do you know: this isn't the next Sion Productions movie, is it? It's a supposedly higher-budgeted Nikkatsu-produced movie?

As for Whispering Star, as a fan of some of Sono's lower-budgeted weirder stuff (eg. Into A Dream), it kills me that I can't see that and that there's no release of it, even on DVD, even in Japan as far as I know, for reason of its being too "arty". Lol maybe we should petition Criterion to release that one...

A Scene at the Sea still isn't listed on HMV online to preorder yet.. Figured it would be up by now.

I got to see Whispering Star at TIFF last year and really enjoyed it. I would love if Criterion released a double feature of Land Of Hope/Whispering Star.

Should we be buying multiple copies of TWF releases to keep things moving? I'm not against that idea.

I see that Love & Peace doesn't have any reviews on amazon. A couple may help the cause.

Whispering star still playing in japanese cinemas so no release there for another 3-4 months

Picked up by german distribution company RAPID EYE MOVIES who already played it in cinemas so should be out on video soon. Since barely any dialogue I'm sure that you could just pickup their release. Of all the Sono films to start with, I'd be amazed if Criterion pick that one. Also, Whispering Star is closest in all aspects to LAND OF HOPE which was a box office flop everywhere (including Japan and especially for us in the UK) so that might explain things too.

Sion productions means just that. Nikkatsu have nothing to do with them except helping distribution in japan and internationally, but not connected to the actual production. He was supposed to make another bigger budget Sion production but as Whispering Star was so arty it halted that.

Antiporno in japanese cinemas feb 2017. Video usually 6 months after and japan doesn't usually allow for foreign territories to release a film before them. Has its world premiere at l'etrange film festival in paris soon

Ah! That's what I was wondering about. Good to know.

Wow, is there really almost no dialogue? Maybe I will consider the German release... I still wouldn't want to miss what dialogue there is... but I do speak a tiny bit of German, so maybe enough to get by if it's my only option...

Anyways, thanks for the info! And good to know there is a release planned yet in Japan, after how long most of his other 2015 films have been out there I was starting to get worried this was being ignored for video even in his home country.

Just preordered A scene at the Sea from Amazon. Will I get slip cover?

All of the other Kitano ones I ordered from HMV and they all had the slip cover.

Yes. I think Third Window will notify everyone if these sell out before they're released! Otherwise their promotion of the slipcover doesn't really apply...

Still no listing on HMV though. They're honestly so slow at uploading things to their site, I've almost given up checking.

I tweeted HMV a few weeks ago and got an response saying we are updated and I will tweet you back. I've looked every other day and still nothing so moved to Amazon this time.

HMV not doing themselves any favors with the age their taking to list the pre-orders online.
I pre-ordered Scene and Kids at Amazon ages ago, but would definitely consider switching to HMV as their delivery times have been super fast recently, and it would be nice to get these a few days early.

Same, well they've lost me for Scene. Maybe they'll be quicker next time for Kids Return.

They finally put Cry of the City up about a week before release, and for some reason it's higher than their usual prices for BFI discs. So no sale from me so far, and had to wait ages for them to confirm that.

Sometimes they get pre-orders up really early, or do them in batches, so maybe they just haven't got around to the TWF titles yet? I dunno. Doesn't make any sense to me. Their logic so far is comparable to someone using filing cabinet with files all over the place and in the wrong order.

A Scene at the Sea pre order now available on HMV

http://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ray/a-scene-at-the-sea

Going to cancel my Amazon and order here. I've received Kikujiro and Dolls from HMV early and in perfect condition. Also £1 cheaper than Amazon.

Any chance TWF will pick up Train to Busan?

Trailers look pretty good.

It's only been out a few days so it may be that people haven't gotten round to it yet. There are these, though:
