This is so not true, not sure how you can extrapolate finding a movie boring to ADD? I believe if I had ADD as you alluded to I wouldn't have watched the entire movie. I love movies that have that re-watchable ability either the whole movie or even a particular scene. Two examples come to mind instantly, the scene in 2001 when Hal is dismantled and is singing Daisy Daisy or the opening scene in Gladiator, simply fantastic. IMO I could not see myself wanting to re-watch any scene in FRWL or the entire movie for that matter. I am sorry but James Bond throwing his hat onto a coat rack really does nothing for me. Again this is just my opinion, no ADD here, far from it....... |

Is it any wonder? My neices and nephews were all raised in a post-MTV world, and their attention spans are so short they cannot be measured with modern equipment.
I can see in my minds eye the average teenager watching FRWL for the first time: "When's sumthin gonna explode? I've been watchin this film for like 4 hours and nuthin exploded yet. I bought blu-ray so it would look and sound cool when sh!t exploded. If this were Brosnan, there'd be all kindsa sh!t explodin! This movie sucks and's fer old people." ![]() |

So J-Corn, do you find the other 60's-era Bond films boring, or just FRWL? Just curious if it is just the one film or all older Bond films in general. As a long time Bond film fan I like all the old ones very much, especially Goldfinger, Live & Let Die and Thunderball.

Yes! Lazenby's one go at Bond was better than ANY of Moore's versions! And evry time I watch Diamonds Are Forever, I think about what could have been if Lazenby had come back for the "revenge" sequel they had originally planned.

OP, I'm curious how old are you? I;m a big time Bond fanatic and have collected Bond memoribilia for almost 30 years and I find FRWL the closest to a perfect Bond movie there is.
As for the poster who thought Brosnan looked the most like Hoagey Carmichael, take a look at Timothy Dalton again. Bond was also described as having cruel looks -something Brosnan did not have at all. Connery, Dalton and Craig all have that cruel look. Apart from the blonde hair, I think Craig looks the part much more than Moore or Brosnan did. As for Craig being the first Blonde Bond - take a closer look at Roger Moore. They did darken his hair in his first couple movies but started to show lighter hair in his later films. My top 5 favorite Bond movies FRWL OHMSS CR GF TLD ![]() |

On the original topic, I love FRWL, it is definitely in my top 5. I find the intrigue very thrilling and love the spy scenes with Kerim Bey.
A little off topic, I am surprised at how many people like OHMSS, I thought it was just me. It is my favorite movie (and Bond book) and I can't wait for it to get to Blu. Unfortunately, I'll have to wade through the crummy ones like Moonraker, Octo***** and Licence to Kill before they get to it, I'm sure. My last note is that I don't think that Lazenby is a very good actor, but he definitely had the best written script/story to work with. Born in 1973. I find a lot of movies from the 60s era to be great but FRWL was just ok for me, far from great.

Before Die Another Day was released, a study was conducted with hundreds of respondants in various British colleges and universities.
The top two movies listed were 1) Thunderball 2) Licence to Kill This was around 2004. Ian Fleming actually recommended Roger Moore to play James Bond, but Cubby thought it was too close to "The Saint", which is why years later they approached Moore again as The Saint had stopped airing several years earlier. United Artists wanted Burt Reynolds to play Bond, suggesting that an un-known British actor wouldn't work, but Saltzman and Broccoli kept to the vision they saw and had narrowed it down to Michael Caine and Sean Connery. After screen testing both they both chose Connery. Moore did not want to let go of 007 after A View To A Kill, but he knew it was time and after a long talk with Cubby they both agreed to let Moore announce his retirement from the role. Cubby's autobiography is a most excellent read - I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the world of Bond. |

From Russia with Love is how you say a real Bond movie. Just because it makes you think doesn't mean it's boring. Sorry that you've been spoiled by the films such as Live Free or Die Hard and Rambo. It's got Grade A quality acting and Sean Connery's portrayl of a character for which he had nothing to base it on is timeless. Definitely one of the best Bonds in the entire collection.
Disclaimer: If you say that you liked Die Another Day, your opinion doesn't count. |

At one point I made an effort to see every Bond film.
Although I had fond memories of the 1960s era Bond films I found them fairly dull to watch now. Corny as they are, I prefer the Brosnan-era bond films and also the humor from the Moore era. I do agree that Sean Connery was a great Bond. Without him the series would have gone nowhere. Actually, I think every Bond actor has brought something to the table. |
