I watched a DVD of P&P's Gone to Earth this week, and thought what a stunningly beautiful Technicolor film it was, and how amazing it could look on Blu-ray. Oddly, it never really seems to get mentioned.

I'm a fan of the film also, a lesser work perhaps, in comparison to their 1944-48 run. Although a lesser P&P work is better than mosts finest.

If it's the same DVD that I have, there's a lovely extra of wordless archive behind the scenes footage to the soundtrack of Debussy's Claire de Lune. It's often thought that Tourneur's Night of the Demon inspired Kate Bush's Hounds of Love because of the 'It's in the trees, it's coming!' sample. However, if you listen closely to the lyrics it's this film she draws from

As a postscript, anything that features Esmond Knight & Hugh Griffiths, I'll watch.
