Default General Zavvi Steelbook Discussion Thread

For anyone else who ordered Huntsman 3D steelbook, is the spine blank?

The spine in the promo video is also blank. Weird choice.

I think it's a mistake. The Best Buy steel (which is the same) does have text on the spine.

Yes. I think its part of the appalling trend to enable companies to easily sell steelbooks across various countries, yet completely ignoring the wishes of steelbook collectors to have readable spines for filing purposes.

I think it's so people don't have to know you actually own the Huntsman.

I'm far more concerned over the 'inaugural blank' by Universal than an 'epic burn'. Di$ney have been pulling this move of textle$$ steelbooks for some time now and clearly Univer$al are following that lead (except in the US naturally).

How long before all the other majors follow suit on WWA Steelbooks because their accountants say it makes sense? I think we are one step away from all steelbooks bought in the UK, Germany, NZ, France, Australia, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, and a host of other countries being 'text free' and difficult for us to file spine out. FIGHT THE POWER. Come on brothers and sisters, let's not draw a blank.

I have a couple of blanks so far, and you don't even need to have OCD to find it irritating.

If they want to do blank spines (a ludicrous, customer-unfriendly move, imo), then perhaps they could do decals of the title in various languages for the customer to affix. That would cost less than localised printing of the steel itself, and we wouldn't have the absurd situation of blank spines showing on our shelves.

I ordered Tears of the Sun and The Purge steelbooks on the same day within the same order. The former arrived super fast, but now a week later, I still have not received The Purge. They were shipped out on the very same day, so I have no idea how this second one still hasn't arrived yet. I know things get sent in separate boxes, and I've ordered many times from Zavvi. I've never had this big of a gap with things arriving from them. Usually my orders arrive on the same day or a few days apart. Should I be concerned?

A few months ago, I both ordered both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later at the same time but were shipped separately. One arrived a few weeks later and the other one did not arrive at all. Zavvi CSR advised for me to wait 30 days until they can act upon it. As expected, 28 Days Later sold out. Zavvi refunded me the amount I paid. I am pissed and I had to search for another copy so I can complete my collection.

I have had the same thing happen: 2 steels shipped out on the same day, only to have one arrive in the usual 10-14 day timeframe and the other to arrive 2 weeks AFTER that. When I wrote to Zavvi CS, they wrote back and quoted their delivery timeframes for overseas and told me to contact them again after that had elapsed. Not sure what they are now, but sure enough ON THE LAST DAY, it arrived.

I've also had 3 steels shipped on the same day and they all arrived 2-3 days apart from one another... I just assumed they are held up at customs or something... never been charged, though.

I have 5 steelbook orders on the way from Zavvi.

In the past, shipments from Zavvi have arrived between 2 and 4 weeks. Only one made it here in a week.

I don't like the long transit time (I am spoile by Amazon Prime), but Zavvi's shipping price is extremely cheap so I cannot complain.

And how much do you pay for this Prime?

In comparison to Non-Prime Amazon, Zavvi is superb.

You either do not pay for shipping at all, then it takes a while, still some amazon orders took way longer than almost all of my zavvi orders and they charge tons of postage.

For example I ordered Classic Monsters + Star Trek Original Series + Mulholland Drive from Amazon UK on 28.8. Guess what - I have only received Mulholland Drive - FINALLY - 1 day ago. The others haven't even been shipped yet. And they charged "only" 7 pounds for postage. And for Mulholland Drive they of course used a horrible delivery service, just as they always do. I was lucky, that the package was small enough to fit into my letter box otherwise I would have to call around b/c of this mess.

Or you pay zavvi 2 pounds and get the items within 2 up to a max. of 4 days. Not only is that cheaper than Amazon, but it's also way way way faster and zavvi uses a proper courier in that case. Amazon almost always uses the cheapest delivery service there is, despite me paying tons of bucks on postage. For those zavvi express delivery packages, I get proper tracking. I even see where the delivery van is on the internet. It even tells me how many packages will have to be delivered before mine. Amazon UK's delivery goes: "hey, maybe your package will arrive today, between 9:00 and 16:00, good luck, we guess that you surely have no job, otherwise what we are doing wouldn't make sense".

I could have ordered Star Trek TOS for the same price from zavvi and it would have already been here for 2 weeks.

But it's nice that Amazon at least does an acceptable job with their often overpriced articles, when you pay them a monthly fee on top.

What does this even? I pay them a monthly fee, so that they deliver my orders somewhat properly? You know what, there is a small movie internet store in my country. I order something today, It will get sent out next work day. With the best delivery service there is. with tracking. No postage for orders > 17 EUR. I almost always get those items the day after. AND THEY ARE WAY CHEAPER THAN AMAZON most of the time. A SMALL movie internet store. And they do packaging properly. Steelbooks in bubble foil. And not this "we will throw it into a mailer, who cares if it gets scratches".

Amazon == rip-off.

Amazon Prime: I pay an annual fee and receive free shipping on all "Prime eligible" orders. Nearly 100% of my orders are release day delivery. If on the off chance an order arrives damaged or not correct, with an email it's resolved. I have access to all of Amazon's online content. In addition to a few other services. Now that's just all for only blu-rays. We have two kids 5 & 2 and did the diaper program with Amazon and saved a ton of money. Plus all the other oddball items we might order throughout the year. Christmas shopping? A total breeze!

In your opinion it might be a rip off.
In my opinion it's one of the best deals going.

I've ordered quite a bit from Zavvi, they aren't even in the same league as Amazon. Their CS is borderline nonexistent. The only reason I import from Zavvi is for their exclusives. Anything else I will gladly get on AmazonUK.

I have Amazon Prime for the sole purpose of the fast shipping. Don't do gaming or streaming even though it's included.

I have Sams Club membership for diapers.

I have the Walmart Shipping Pass for $50, which is 2 day shipping to your home.

Is there an option get Prime w/o that but w/ a cheaper price?

It sounds like the PS4 PSN+ scam. Where you pay for peer to peer multiplayer (which is: paying for the allowance to use your own internet connection to play with other people), but do not fear, you also get "free" games. aka digital download rentals, that you can only use until you do not pay anymore. Games are years old almost all the time of course (so I own them on physical discs already).

Secret tip: if you know someone working at a hospital, then that someone may get diapers for way WAY cheaper from the hospital's pharmacy.

I know that because I work at a hospital. And basically all people, who work at that hospital, buy diapers from there in case they need those (diapers themselves are a rip-off...).

I personally also get all sorts of other stuff for WAY cheaper than in public pharmacies. Just got an ointment for around 2 EUR, which is normally 7-8 EUR. I even get a special deal there and get everything for the internal purchase price, which is even more cheaper).

I ordered a new Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate from amazon UK. They sent me an obviously used copy. When I told that to the customer service, they didn't give a f***. Not wrapped in anything at all. Club Nintendo code missing. Selling used goods as new - support doesn't give a s***.

Nintendo actually surprised me - they gave me a fresh Club Nintendo code after sending them the invoice. Now that actually was great customer support.

I had something similar happen with zavvi once. With also a game. Also obviously used copy. Also no Club Nintendo code. Haven't ordered games from both of them since then.

After that I see them in the same class.

I guess w/ that monthly fee, maybe they would have done something. I guess I was seen as grade E customer.

Are there any working codes for Zavvi currently? It's been a while since I've received one, and I'd like to place an order tomorrow. Thanks!

Amazon Prime is very simple. It's geared towards high volume shoppers. Basically Amazon is one stop shopping, and for us, it's great. We are on-the-go every day. Not a lot of time to just spend hours pushing a stroller through the local shopping plaza or indoor mall. Amazon provides a great alternative.
This is why it's always good to have options in life.
