OMG!

You're going to countdown from eighty-five?

Well, at least it is nice to know that two other people appreciate Tommy Lee Jones' directorial debut.

I'm one of the votes for Gunfight at the OK Corral. Would've bumped it up a few notches, if not for that damn annoying theme song.

OK Corral and The Gunfighter were both on my top 25 list.

I wanted to do the top 99 or 100 or even the top half (113 of 226) but too many of the movies around there have just one vote each and even with the two tie-breakers, they're still tied. I will show the basic complete list after we do the top countdown.

I need to check out The Three Burials, I hadn't heard of it prior to this thread and just watched the trailer. it looks pretty good and I like tommy lee jones in just about everything I see him in.

Well, have at it! I'm hopeful that the other films on my list rank higher.

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada is a must watch for any fan of the western genre.

I still haven't seen it but damn it looks solid. I've seen TLJ's adaptation of Sunset Ltd. and that was on point.

He directed another western before that. Available on DVD-R or VHS only as far as I know.

Yeah, a lot of people mistake Three Burials for Tommy Lee Jones's directorial debut. It was actually The Good Old Boys, a television movie for TNT in 1995, about aging cowboys in the early-1900s facing the end of the Old West. It was only available on VHS for a long time until it was finally released on DVD in 2012 through the Warner Archive Collection. Bought a copy for my dad for Christmas a couple years ago since he couldn't watch it on videotape anymore. Good movie.

Yes, you are correct. He directed the TV movie The Good Old Boys (1995). The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada is his first feature-length film for theatrical release.
