That must be the promised reissue. It uses the same art as the separate DVD so makes sense.

Edit. FYI there is no number on the spine.
Does it still come with the booklet?

Glad I waited the re-issue has a better cover imho.

Very nice. And you've preempted my question re spine number.

I know the last set was delayed but surely the last quarter announcements are due any day now.

As worthy additions to the collection as they are I'm hoping they announce another Flipside release or two that are little more leftfield than Expresso Bongo, Beat Girl and Psychomania, especially as Murder in the Cathedral and Akenfield would have fit right into range.

Great new artwork! But now a bit worried which cover I'll get if I ordered it online...which seller on eBay?

That Psychomania release looked like an interesting curio at first but the BFI have gone full-on with this (and other Flipside titles to be fair...been meaning to get Symptoms ever since it was announced). Love to see them embrace the cult as much as the obscure/"arthouse"...

Robert Hardy? (4th screen capture comparison down) (Thought he was dead!)

Looks a bit funny, but the other screengrabs do show flesh tones as being a bit on the pink side.

Anyway, I'd forgive any PQ concerns for a release as stacked as this

Maybe it's restoring the original intention (remember it's supposed to be bonkers, so why not sickly green bias) or maybe the film materials have faded in the years since the SD scan.

Why not?

Probably a combination of the way the scene was lit and natural deterioration of the film stock. This transfer is apparently taken from a Spanish vault copy and judging by those screen grabs is 100x better than the cut non-anamorphic pillar boxed public domain DVDs and 4:3 TV showings those of us who never got around to buying the always seeming to expensive to bother importing Severin DVD have had to endure.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this on Blu-ray (hopefully tomorrow night if HMV.com are up to their usual standards) and as the Mondo Digital review states I'm sure it'll feel like watching an entirely different film.

Hopefully they're sourcing more extra material as other than the booklet the listed stuff is from the old Optimum DVD. It's a good making off documentary and the alternative ending is fascinating as an example of just how wrong producers can get things but I'd like something new if possible.

In other news:

Still no dispatch notice for my Psychomania Blu-ray. Was expecting it this morning to watch tonight. Please don't make a habit of this HMV.com

I think it's because HMV has the wrong release date. As far as I'm aware, Amazon have been listing 26th September for a while now.

Here's a review from dvdcompare.net of Psychomania:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=4427

It seems to explain the PQ better than anywhere else (it's more in-depth, anyway).
