Anyone else watch the premiere on Sunday? I had high hopes for the show because of Lord and Miller as well as Jason Sudeikis, but I didn't love the premiere. It had it's moments and I definitely didn't find it bad and will keep watching it, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

I don't really like its humor, the sort of quirky dialogue-heavy millennial humor isn't really my thing (I'm much more crass and lowbrow). But there are a lot of places they could take this concept. I'm reminded of how poorly King of the Hill originally started off, before it turned into one the great animated sitcoms. But KOTH's problem was lack of polish. Son of Zorn has polish, but it seems to be more interested in a direction I'm not. A couple of times I thought that Zorn was maybe just some average MMORPG-addicted delusional guy everyone was simply humoring all the time, but the ending with the bird/roc kind of blew that theory up a bit.
That said, I doubt I'll be watching this regularly. |

Son of Zorn's comedy reminds me of Family Guy a little bit as far as not caring about offending anyone, and probably because Zorn's voice and oblivious lack of awareness reminds me of the guy who played the Tick in the first live action series (9 episodes), Patrick Warburton (who also stars in Family Guy).
I generally thought Son of Zorn was comical and had me laughing a few times. I'd watch another episode. Jason Sudeikis plays Zorn. |
