$17...not great, but not terrible either.

Hopefully I love it and feel the need to watch it many, many times.

Sometimes these kinds of documentaries are one and done for me.

And if this thing shows up on Netflix next month, I swear to god I'm going to go on a machete-wielding killing spree.

...my neighbors will suffer.
it's a great documentary... U hours long. Also a good companion piece to the box set.

Much better. I didn't care for His Name Was Jason. The main feature felt like one of those VH1 I love the 90's specials. It was quick hit information that felt like it was edited by a someone on speed. I actually enjoyed the bonus feature disc of His Name Was Jason way more than the main feature because it didn't have the frenetic editing and the interview subjects were allowed to talk.

Crystal Lake Memories is the definitive F13 documentary.

My favorite part of His Name was Jason was the bonus feature where they go back to the house that was used as the Jarvis House in Part 4. Actually, the one where they go to the location of Part 3 was pretty cool too. However, I agree that Crystal Lake Memories is the best documentary. The thing that I really like is that they have it arranged in chapters so that you can watch it as you watch the films. Since I bought it directly from the manufacturer, I also have the bonus disc with the deleted segments of interviews. Those are really good too.

I don't believe so. If you're looking for them, your best luck in finding them may be to search any FYEs you might happen to have near you. Some are easier to come by than others, but I have seen most or all there in the not too distant past. Online many still seem very hard to come by.

I wish I had this version! I'm guessing that it is not online or easily obtainable?

It was only available for pre-order directly from the manufacturer, and then they only had it in limited numbers. It actually has the documentary on Blu-ray and DVD, along with the fifth bonus disc, which is a DVD. The damn thing costed me $32. In the end, it was worth it being a limited issue. The Blu-ray/DVD version is already going for more than $60 on Amazon, and that is without the bonus disc.

I ordered the Part I and Part II blu-ray combo pack off of FYE.'s website last week. Got an email this morning saying the order was cancelled because they ran out.

Another thing the director's cut of Jason Goes to Hell has going for it, besides that awesome split kill... a director's commentary. I know some don't care for such extras, but since the director has passed away, that's another reason it should have been included.

Adam Marcus is alive and well. You're probably thinking of James Issac, the director of Jason X.

Didn't hear he had passed, bummer.
I vaguely recall listening to the comm when the dvd came out and thought it a good lively one. Yeah the dudes were kinda delusional in thinking they made a great film, but it was filled with banter and facts and made me appreciate the flick a bit more.
Just looked into it, it was writer Jay Huguely who passed in 2008, Adam Marcus is still kicking.

Also I believe everyone that preordered did not get the bonus disc. I remember on some forum I was on don't remember which a lot of preorders where complaining they did not receive the bonus disc. Can't recall if they were ever shipped one or they just lost out as this was long time back.

Ok, so for Halloween I've decided to finally get a complete set of these movies (up until now I've only ever watched them on TV in the edited forms and haven't seen that many of them, mostly just part 1 and the newer ones; X/Reboot). I'm in the US and through searching online I've found what I believe to be a good compromise for anyone wanting all of these today at a good price (4 of the films on DVD though sadly). I've checked multiple FYEs around me and didn't have any luck except for the CASES AND CASES of part 2. I went ahead and got DVDs to see the movies as they were cheap, hopefully can upgrade those at some point in the future when prices are more reasonable / discs are available.

So here is what I did in case anyone else wants to use this information to pick themselves up some of these:

1. Part I on Blu-Ray ($5 at Best Buy)
2. Part II on Blu-Ray ($6 at Wal-Mart In-Store Pick Up)
3. Part III / IV on Blu-Ray ($21 shipped to US from Amazon.ca)
4. Part V / VI on Blu-Ray ($8 Best Buy)
5. Part VII and VIII DVD ($7 Best Buy)
6. JGTH / Jason X DVD ($7 Best Buy)
7. Friday 13th (Reboot) / Nightmare (Reboot) / Freddy vs Jason Blu-Ray ($13 Best Buy)

So a total of $67, not all the best quality and of course not the nice complete Blu-Ray set, but all the movies at least.

Crystal Lake Memories is the definitive F13 documentary.
Watched some of it last night.

Ironically, it reuses a lot of the interviews from His Name Was Jason.

It does reuse alot, but I feel it still has superior editing and pacing compared to HNWJ.

Do it quick, or wait, I don't know anymore. The 7/8 set was impossible to find when it came out. Then it was cheap a few weeks (maybe months) ago, now it's gone again? Nothing about those doubles make any sense. Just glad I got the ones I needed as I didn't like the look and reviews of the boxset (plus I owned over half of it already). I'm fine with Hell and X on dvd, esp. with Hell being the unrated cut.
