The big question is will Poppy Drayton even be in it if its renewed. I don't see how she can be without some serious cheese, and the only other person I liked still alive is Manu(Allanon), and I don't think I'd watch the show just for him.

I don't see how they could bring her back even with the cheese lol I don't know how the book ended to compare it to anything but the only people in the third book are Wil, Eretria, and Allanon but Will and Eretria are older so would have to be recast,
[Show spoiler]and they have kids and the kids are the main characters
. Manu Bennett is the only one who could return, since I'm assuming he'd be the same age still?

She could have a reduced role as the Ellcrys, if another character were to enter the tree.
It would be neat to see S2 bridge the gap between Elfstones and Wishsong. Then have S3 be Wishsong, and S4 a prequel as Sword.

I assume from the ending of season 1 that all ties to the books are totally and completely gone, and that it will now branch off into a brand new only loosely-related set of stories.

Which is why Wil and Eretria, as they were in season 1, will continue to be in the show.

I could be wrong, but that Cliffhanger would be pointless if they really were fast-forwarding in time.

EDIT: Oh and what I meant by cheese would be like it turns out Amberle has a previously unknown twin sister, who starts adventuring with Wil and Eretria.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do continue and just do without the book's guideline but if they do decide to skip to book three, it'll be pretty obvious that him going off to save her succeeded
[Show spoiler]since they have kids

The entire first season is now on Netflix.

I always thought Oded Fehr from The Mummy would be the perfect Allanon.

But be careful with those european releases. I bought the German one (was rather cheap) and it's region free but only 1080i50, so with PAL speed up. That sucks.

Looks like the UK release is 1080p but B locked.

Oh, that's very useful information! I'll have to check up on the Danish release. It's on sale, but I'd prefer 24Hz of course.

I see that the UK release has 24-bit LPCM stereo sound. Definitely getting that one, when it isn't more expensive than the Danish release

Indeed! I ordered the French release. That gorgeous cover art reeled me in!
I enjoy these books so much, I would gladly double dip on a US release.

I watched episode one last night. This should be a good series and best of all it's one my wife is actually watching with me.

My main complaint is that on Netflix the audio is only stereo, and it was rather harsh sounding at times.

I have streaming and discs from Netflix and was going to stream it until I noticed it was stereo sound so I got the discs instead but they are on DVD only. The picture is better streaming but the stereo sound isn't as good as the 5.1 that was on the DVD. After watching the first Disc I chose to keep watching the DVDs, sucks you have to choose picture or sound to sacrifice.

I would have watched it on MTV when it aired but my cable company hasn't had any Viacom channels in nearly 2 years. I have also had to watch Teen Wolf on the Discs from Netflix which are also DVD only and season 5 part 1 was the last available part 2 isn't yet.

Would've been nice to have a US BD release for this. Hopefully it gains a little more traction with S2 and we get a S1/2 combo pack?

I cannot believe you asked that question. Blu-ray disks are more expensive than DVDs:
  • Because the cost of replicating equipment is much higher than for DVD, there are far fewer plants which can produce BD-ROM discs (a Sony division holds a large share of the market), so there is less competition
  • To put 50GB on a disc requires far greater tolerances than DVD (the pits are much closer together, and much closer to the surface of the disc), so there are more rejects, which raises costs
  • Most titles ship fewer copies on Blu-ray than DVD (though the balance continues to shift in Blu-ray's favor), so there are lower economies of scale for Blu-ray
  • Authoring Blu-ray Discs costs more than DVD. FullHD is much less forgiving than SD, so more care must be taken in transferring the print (especially for older movies), and viewer expectations are generally higher. Similarly, most titles include lossless audio, which requires more care to be taken in the audio domain. Major releases also often have more ambitious bonus content than is possible on DVD, which costs more to author.

It took five seconds to search for the information through Google.

Probably because people found out it was on BD in other countries. I'm just glad it's official and not MOD. The slipcover is pretty cool, guess I can't wait too long to get it

It sucks that Paramount isn't giving BrainDead a Blu-ray release though Curse you, DVDs!

Thank you for the heads up! Even though I imported the French release, I will gladly dip on this.

The slipcover is very nice. I'm surprised that they're trying this on Blu-ray, but it's good for the fans. And maybe if it does well enough then it can pave the way for a few more Blu-ray releases in the future.

As for BrainDead, that's CBS and they don't even give a Blu-ray to their much more popular series. This unfortunately didn't do well even during the Summer. Imo, the choice was always between DVD and nothing, and I'm somewhat surprised that they're actually releasing it at all.
