Default Smallville vs. Lois & Clark

I'm not sure how many of you remember a little known show called "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," but I used to stay up at night as a kid watching it and thought it was a fantastic rendition of Superman (albeit fairly cheesy looking back). I also consider Teri Hatcher to be one of the best Lois Lane's portrayed on screen.

For Smallville fans that also watched L&C, which do you enjoy more? There's no doubting Smallville has much more depth and is unquestionably a different and more serious take on the Superman mythology, but for it's time L&C introduced some great characters and stories as well. What's your take?

Lois & Clark was the best....until they cut Teri's hair. I swear as soon as that happened, the show went downhill.

Lois and Clark was a good show and yes, it introduced me to Teri Hatcher, Smallville on the other hand is good too. Hard to compare the two since its about diffent times of Clark Kents life.

But now were on the subject of smallville, Are you as confused as I am on where this show is going now?? It's cool that Clark is finally realizing that he needs a secert alias identiy, but it seems like everything they been building up to in the last few seasons and kind of disolved away. For example:Where is Lex's Big superhuman army 33.1 that they been talking about since season 4

I liked it.The first couple of seasons was pretty good and then it started going down hill the chemistry between Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher was pretty good.

Now Smallville thats another story this season blows big time.

completely agree. i think the new producers are trying to find a new place for the show, but yeh so many of the storylines seemed to just float around and not really find a place anywhere (ex: 33.1, the "traveler" and "veritas" ideas which just kind of ended, especially the traveler ending with lex which was really disappointing.)

thats one thing i liked about L&C, they had some great stories that were generally resolved really well. the 3 & 6 part story arc episodes were fantastic (i loved the 6parter where
[Show spoiler] lois lost her memory and lex kidnapped her, etc
). although seriously i shouldnt have to black that out. if you're reading this thread and didn't watch all of lois and clark what's wrong with you.

Could it have been the change it producers and writting staff?? There was a lot of changes after season 1 both in actors and production staff. Just one of those weird decisions

could be, who knows. such a shame, seasons 1 and 2 were awesome, and even sporadic episodes throughout 3 and 4 were fantastic. as a whole the latter 2 seasons were somewhat disappointing, but still enjoyable. i thought the whole new krypton thing was kind of an interesting twist for the show, but they never should have
[Show spoiler] had lex die

Right on! Lex should have stayed and too bad John Shea did not shave his head for the role. Still he was great in it

I always thought Smallville had the advantage of never having to deal with Clark actually being Superman. They have stepped all over the continuity, introducing characters into his life much earlier then they ever should have been. They've also take ngreat liberties with characters personalities; like Jimmy Olson and Oliver Queen for example. They can get away with this because they never have to deal with the later stories. Smallville will never evolve into a full blown Superman show so they don't have to care about whether or not things make sense.

Dean Cain is the only actor I've seen who looks so much like Superman that he is Supes.

I saw both and as "teen-powered" as Smallville is, it gets my vote by far.

I have all seasons of both shows currently available on DVD, and my personal preference definitely leans towards 'Smallville.' 'Lois & Clark' is a great show and is very entertaining, but it's almost as thought they weren't necessarily taking the content seriously when they were making it. And, that, for me, is a huge diservice to the mythos of Kal-El. 'Smallville' is amazing when it comes to really creating a sense of the "bigger picture," even though they have taken some fairly large creative license with their writing. 'Smallville' is far more engaging... 'Lois & Clark' never made me excited to watch the next episode. I always just watched it because I knew that it was on.

I like smallville better, but it's kinda like the prequel to the Superman movies in a way. I watched Lois and Clark and never liked Dean Caine as superman or clark. Smallville has gotten alot better this season too and i think Erica Durance is a great Lois Lane.

I remember him. Dean Cain looks more like comic book Superman.

In fact, I never thought Reeve looked like Supes.
