Default Max Payne, very disappointing

the trailer made the movie look badass, but i'm always leery of trusting trailers because it's their job to make crappy movies look cool.

i like mark wahlberg, but he wasn't dark enough in this film. the character from the game was a man who had nothing to lose, and was a badass so he didn't take shit. in this movie, he gets on his knees and gets his ass beat by a tiny chick. which btw, also pissed me off because the movie industry these days always casts hot, small chicks in a role where the person is a badass. like in the movie Wanted, angelina was supposed to be a badass assassin and she was a twig!

also, it had the same old plot twist. omg, the guy who the main character has always trusted turns out to be the bad guy. who could've guessed. the acting was terrible and the whole movie felt terribly scripted. i don't think Ludacris should be in a movie ever again.

lastly, the "bullet time" wasn't even that cool, didn't even fit in with the movie. ok, end rant. i'd like to hear your guys opinions as well

notwithstanding everything you said, I cannot wait until it hits blu_the action, sounds, etc was great....I never played the game but I loved the action and I loved darkness of MM towards the end.>>>i do believe he was a little wimpy but all in all it could have been worst......

Pretty sure I've posted my opinion on this movie on the other Max Payne thread or threads already, but since I'm guessing that one is hard to find using the search function :P I'll post one again in this thread.

I, like you, was also extremely disappointed in this film and agree that the trailer looked pretty cool. Unlike you though, I was very happy with the casting of the twig I think you're talking about, Olga Kurylenko. I think she is smokin' hot and she's about the only thing I like about this movie

Definitely not enough shooting. Bullet time did seem a bit out of place in the movie because of the lack of shooting and use of bullet time.

You're right about the plot twist too - it was very predictible.

I also felt there was not nearly enough of a relationship between Max Payne and Mila Kunis' character for her to be helping him out in the end. She'd already gotten what she wanted, so why continue to help him. Seemed rather out of place for the way here character had been portrayed up to that point.

I also really didn't understand the motivations of the secondary bad guy in this film, Jack Lupino. I understand that he was all hopped up on drugs, but why exactly was he murdering people - and seemingly only other people who were on the drug.

Oh, and
[Show spoiler]Why did they kill the baby - what could it have known that was damaging to the company?

I think he was talking about Mila Kunis, as she was the one he got on his knees for. I saw the movie, hated it. I just wanted to agree with you about Olga. Certainly made Hitman worth watching.

I can't belive you guys think these movies are worth watching just for a "smokin', hot chick" Thanks for the warning on Max Pain, I thought the previews looked cool too, but then I saw it rated PG-13 and figured they must be targeting another M Rated game to the kiddies.

It's not so much that I watched a movie for the smokin hot chick, but more that after I got stuck watching the horrible movie, I found something to like about it.

its ashame even though I will still buy it when its on blu lol, the game for ps2 was awsome! to say the least I would have thought this would be an easy movie to make do some back story, how happy he and his fam are, have them killed, then just have him go nuts with tons of guns(like in the matrix where he says "I need guns lots of guns"), thats all we needed

I thought visually it was really good, a lot of the cues seemed lifted from Sin City.

With the exception of Wahlberg, I haven't seen a movie so mis-cast in quite some time though. Mila Kunis was laughable in her role. One of my pet peeves is people in movies holding guns who so obviously have never before in real life. Especially when the character is an assasin.

The film also had some serious pacing issues, and non-events. They spent a ton of time bulding up the Lupino character, and his eventual shouldown with Payne was abrupt and the definition of anti-climatic.

So yeah, although I liked Wahlberg and thought it was well shot, this movie was pretty meh all the way around.

Mark Wahlberg is a bad ass. He's the new cool guy on the block.

Mark Wahlberg > Matt Damon any day.

I was just hopin for a "cool" movie with a big name actor, nothing great. And it failed at that, badly. Weak action, weak bad guys, horrible acting. Could've been cool, but no, the movie industry doesn't like making decent, cool movies anymore.

Also, shooter was disappointing. HORRIBLE physics in that movie. They went through the trouble of talking about how all the variables in a shooting can effect the shot, even the rotation of the earth. Then he takes a guy's head off from a rocking boat on water with a 22!! JOKE

I think most people went into this movie with expectations of what it was going to be like... that will almost always leave you disappointed. That's the number one thing NOT to do and yet most people still do it and we have so many mixed reviews on every single movie. The trailers really made this movie look like it was Constantine part 2 vs Max Payne.

If you go into this movie expecting it to be a true to the game Max Payne movie.. you will be disappointed.

If you go into it expecting it to be an angels & demons movie like Constantine... you will be disappointed.

The movie was decent. Worth watching. But not great. I will get the blu ray because the special effects were great, Olga Kurylenko is gorgeous, Mila Kunis is pretty hot and it was a cool movie.

...and yes I buy some movies because there's smokin hot women in them. EX: Hitman, Into The Blue. If it's a decent movie, and it's got women like Olga Kurylenko or Jessica Alba then yeah, it's worth seeing in high definition. I don't know about you, but the most appealing thing in life is women in my eyes. Hot, young beautiful women. umph. I'll take a Into The Blue Jessica Alba BD over a Planet Earth DB any day...

Priorities in life = 1) Money, 2) P*$$y, 3) everything else.

As a big fan of the games you cannot help but have expectations and I found this movie to be horrible. The script was garbage the fact that they put Ludacris in this movie and changed his character from a "60 year old white guy, because Ludacris is much more hip and we wanted to show that" is the dumbest thing i've heard in along time. Not to mention when Mila says "You know who I am and what I can do" we as the audience did infact not know as she never tells you who or what she is or does, and than after one shooting scene she must have decided screw it, and just went home as she disappears from the damn movie. I have talked to a lot of people who saw this some big fans of the game, most never played it, and none have liked it. And why in every auction movie does the bad guy always have to stand there talking and talking telling you the reason he did things, just shoot the guy and end it. The auction was beyond ridiculous especially the marine sniper missing him by 15 feet with his rifle just so the can have exploding vials, made me want to walk out right there. HORRIBLE GARBAGE!

When they were talking to the tattoo artist didn't he say that the beliefs of the people were that heaven could only be reached through a violent death? Or something along those lines.

Same here, occasionally. I don't think anyone would have bought the Underworld movies had Kate not been i them. I wouldn't have.

I liked the SNL skit 'Mark Whalberg talks to animals' better.

So, you're a chicken--what's that all about?
