It's good to balance out a little Nolan with a little Kubrick.

John Campea in AWE of Dr. Strange Movie Says it craps all over Inception.

John Campea from Collider says the Dr. Strange Imax preview was completely awesome. He said "I will say this without any hyperbole at all. It's THE most spectacular visual display I've ever seen on the big screen. I have never in my life as a film fan seen anything so spectacular. I WAS IN AWE."

Campea added, "There's some people comparing what they've sen to Inception. F--- Inception. F--- it completely. Inception is kind of like Joe Dirt compared to The Godfather."

He wasn't even a big Dr. Strange fan before watching this Imax stuff.

Yikes, dramatic much? (to the film goers) Inception was a great movie! Even if Dr. Strange is awesome, I really don't think that's a fair comparison.

I found the clarification of no hyperbole funny to then read "F*** Inception." lol

Contextually I think it's mostly fair just because there has been so much comparison and people ragging on Strange because of its "plagiarism."

I'm not familiar with Campea and my knowledge of film is limited. All I can say is that what I witnessed was spectacular.

I think the problem is that the effects comparisons with Inception have always been silly and clearly just a way for people to complain. It was clear from the beginning that none of the effects in Strange looked anything like Inception.

Yeah after seeing the preview, the Inception comparison gets thrown out the window immediately. Strange is very much doing its own thing. I do think Campea is being overly hyperbolic by saying it's the "most spectacular visual display I've ever seen on the big screen," though.

But it IS the most stunning 3D I've ever seen. If you're planning to see this movie in 2D, you might as well not see the movie at all.

I think he was referring to the visuals of the building wraps and twists, not the movie itself.

Regarding the part of the IMAX preview that indicates
[Show spoiler]this happens in the past, there were some rumours that the movie takes place over years, so Strange could be dismissing the man who was injured in IM2 at the beginning since it's before his car accident, and then the rest of it takes follows him over the years. Which makes sense because there's that part in the international trailer where The Ancient One says it takes many years to do what she does and Strange looks resigned. Not to mention if he's having multiple surgeries and exhausting his money, which would also take a while. And I'd like it if that's the case, because one wouldn't exactly gain mastery of something like this over even a few months, so if it does go back in time and span from 2010 until now, then that would be pretty awesome imo.

I know. It was the way it was posted that amused me.
"This is not hyperbole."

Yeah, I think one trailer and one TV spot would do just fine. 19 is just plain overkill.

I'll add the initial quick teaser in their shown earlier in the year and maybe 3-4 TV spots, at most!

19 is stupid because most TV spots are comprised of the same footage but usually add 1 different scene to differentiate from the others. Well, if that's the case with this film that's 19 scenes ruined in the spots.

I'm glad I have better self control and don't watch those anymore.

There's always a billion tv spots for films like this, they gotta get the promotion out there. Googling Civil War I can see there were at least 55 for that. I've only watched a couple of the first ones to come out and then I stop, otherwise I see more than I want to. I prefer to save most of my viewing for the actual film itself, I learnt that lesson after watching everything for Age of Ultron and feeling like I'd seen most of it.

Yeah, Or at least 4 or 5 tv spots and maybe 2 or 3 trailers. I don't recall any movie only having 1 trailer though.
