Hey guys & gals.
This weekend I'm going to be heading to the most beautiful town I've ever been to, Telluride Colorado, for a horror film festival. Last year was my first year, and I saw lots of great films, including Bone Tomahawk in it's North American premiere. (Ended up in my overall top 10). So I figured, why not make a thread about this years? In this first post, I'll add all the feature length films that are shown, with a little description, trailer, and artwork if available. There are 18 features being shown. TONS of shorts, but honestly, I'm not much of a short film guy. Most of these films I haven't heard of, so I'm not sure how I want to schedule my days, and figure out what movies I'm going to check out. Will be open to any suggestions! Once the weekend is over, I'll post small reviews for each, as well as rank the ones I saw. So yeah, if you have no interest in horror, or my opinions on film, feel free to ignore this thread. But if you're a horror/sci fi/indie film fan, keep an eye on this! I'll be posting photos of everything as well. I'm going by myself, and it's 6 hours away from home, so I'll have tons of time to kill before & after the showings start each day. (I wish I had a laptop instead of just my phone). This is a long enough post as it is, so I'll list the films in a second post. |

So last night I stayed up real late, going through all the trailers and the schedule, and narrowing down what I want to see. I think I've got it.
![]() Green circle (Rats), I've already seen. Red X's are ones I won't be seeing. The rest are what I plan on watching, in order of how excited I am for them. So I'm most excited for The Eyes of My Mother, least excited for Sadako Vs Kayako. In fact, depending how burnt out I feel, I might skip Sadako Vs Kayako and go to a free pig roast instead. |

That's awesome, jacobsever!
I'm planning on going to my first film festival next year. It will be Sundance! But, Telluride sounds like a lot of fun too! I've only heard of two of the films listed, but I'm interested in hearing your opinions on all of them (or at least the ones you watch). Have fun! |

I've always wanted to go to Sundance. It's a fairly close drive for me too (7.5 hours). Just so pricey. I'm horrible at saving money. One day though, one day. |

I've seen some good movies, a mediocre movie, and a movie I didn't really like.
I also get 0 cell phone service in this entire town, can only use my phone while eating at places with wifi, and don't have a computer. So I'm taking notes and writing general thoughts in a notebook so I can type out reviews once I get back. Also, The Eyes of My Mother was VERY disturbing. Someone left the theater about 3/4 of the way through. It's very slow paced, but damn, it really gets to you. |

Here are a few photos I snapped while there over the weekend.
This is the main street in Telluride. It's seriously my favorite city in the world. And by city I mean town. And by town, I mean about 10 blocks of businesses and homes. VERY small. ![]() I mean, this place looks like the Wild West. It looks like a movie set for an old western, or maybe Wayward Pines. ![]() There was a spooky campfire story read by author Joe R Lansdale (Cold in July, Bubba Ho-Tep) ![]() Q&A with Director Damien Leone after his worldwide premier of Terrifier (which was the best film of the event). ![]() And an hour long discussion on how to break into the indie filmmaking, indie horror business with two young directors. Mickey Keating (POD, Darling, Carnage Park) and Joe Begos (Almost Human, The Mind's Eye). ![]() |
