What are the chances of this release having English subs? The German release only has German subs.

Still surprised that this is coming. Totally forgot about the news from last December thinking it may not come true. So excited.
LOVE this film. So creative in setting the tone/mood for the film. The opening shot with the sound (natural and music background) and color, movements, textures of the image is so perfect. Really awesome opening with the cuts and him waking up. |

I don't know anything about Film Movement Classics but if they have any sense they'll use that art (with that font) for the Blu-ray cover and not something made-up or a photoshop job with a bunch of meaningless quotes. My guess is they've decided to pick up the rights and release the film, so they know something about good taste

Regarding cover art: there's no need to worry.
The artwork I've posted was taken off the Amazon page, and in the past, all the pics / covers that were initially posted as a placeholder artwork on Amazon, ended up being the actual / official artwork (e.g. all the titles holecheck posted above etc.). So, I'm sure that the final art will reflect the photo posted on Amazon, only with the FM logo, of course. ![]() |

That artwork is a revelation and it looks like a Caravaggio painting when compared to the artwork used by FM for their recent releases. I like it too.

I can see why they got Neil deGrasse Tyson to do a commentary! He looks eerily similar to Api (Pete Smith).
![]() ![]() ...and also probably all the physics stuff he knows that's relevant to the film too. |

Film Movement in general has been around for close to fifteen years, specializing in foreign films that were available in advance to subscribers on DVD; you'd pay a yearly fee and get a feature film paired with a short, that I believe were released to customers first prior to video stores. Anyway, their curation was always above-average, they've always seemed like they care about their movies, and care about home video—even if their take on it is a bit different than some other labels. Very excited for this title. I'd put it up there with Miracle Mile as a top gem in terms of 80s takes on the apocalypse. |

I've waited for this for a long time. I first saw The Quiet Earth as 10 year old when a friend's older brother rented the Betamax of it. Back in the 80's this movie was in the same style box from CBS/Fox as Aliens and the like so it had real appeal for folks who liked all of those sci-fi films in their catalog. I still have a very beat up pan and scan tape and a DVD, but never thought I'd see the day this got a proper remaster and release. Just great, great news.
