Has amazon changed their shipping procedures? I ordered 5 movies the other day, 3 of which are showing stock. I remember a couple times for sure in the past where they would send out the 3 immediately and just hold back the others.

lol, welcome to the past 40+ pages of discussion

Amazon is definitely going down-hill in the shipping department. They're really trying to force Prime on us in order to get the service we were used to before.

Yes they hold back in-stock items for out-of-stock or pre-ordered items to arrive. you have to call/chat/email and complain now in order for them to ship them out sooner.

So I watched the first episode of BATES MOTEL and decided that it's worth the money to upgrade to Blu. Season 1 and 3 are on sale on Amazon.

Ugh...I was following along with some of their other changes but didn't catch this one. Very annoying.

I personally think it's a great show. Watched it since day 1. Fairly consistent as well in terms of entertainment and quality.

Funny, I put in an order recently for 4 items, two of which came out last week, two of which have yet to be released. Amazon shipped the two that were released last week already and the other two are still waiting to be shipped once they are released. So, they're still doing the separate shipment thing even when I select the button indicating that it's okay to wait until all items are ready.

Amazon's idea of a Criterion sale:

You can get them for less then amazon on Zeus and Hmv (some titles) non-sales, not to mention AC has had them for less previously.

Sorry to burst your bubble on this one, but due to the facts that the CAD is really weak atm, compounded with shipping cost you're really looking at:

With x being number of items:

($19.99 * x) + ($19.99 * x * ~0.055) + ($3.98 + ($2.50 * x))

The 0.055 is roughly the tax they charge on the product, I've equated it to the product cost, since the tax would be ridiculously low if it were taking in shipping cost + product cost.

So, say we have 2 or more in our basket:
39.98 + 2.19 + 8.98 = 51.15 USD

And, say, on a generous day (1.33) with CC exchange fees (4-5%) and the exchange rate being good:
51.15 * 1.37 = $70.075 CAD

Divide that in two and you have $35.0375 CAD per item for two items. It only approaches getting cheaper around 10 items or more, but never below 32.00 an item.

As well don't forget customs and brokerage fees on orders that did not collect enough tax before going over the border.

There's no Scream Factory Bluray deals going on for Halloween on Amazon.ca?

Maybe he (like I) has a credit card without exchange fees.

I have made large orders in every BN Criterion sale (plus many sales in between) and have never once been charged customs or brokerage fees.

All that figuring out what they would cost from the US right down to CC exchange fees and then ignoring Canadian taxes with the cost from Amazon.ca where somewhere like Nova Scotia would have $32 become over $36

I just don't understand it. Would they rather sell 10 copies (or less) of The Manchurian Candidate for $31.99 during this "sale", or potentially a 100+ copies for $19.99?

Star Trek: The Original Series - The Roddenberry Vault [Blu-ray] looks to have dropped to 15.99, not sure how long that will last?

That depends on how much they bought them at.

Do you really save that much?

I was looking at the Criterion sale on now and even though they are 50% off, the shipping and US exchange kills the deal.

I was actually surprised, I ordered three things last Friday from that horror sale and they all shipped except for BURYING THE EX.

The others arrived this morning via Canada Post.
