I would look into an eD A2-300 for a sub. SVS, HSU, etc. have some nice options in that price range as well.
As far as a receiver, there are a few options. I would say, Onkyo 605/606, Onkyo 705/706, Onkyo 805/806, Yamaha V663, Sony 820, and the Sony 920 are good places to start. Edit: If you do not plan on bitstreaming, Marantz has some very nice options in receivers as well. Last edited by JasonR; 11-04-2008 at 03:32 AM. |

To the OP: As far as Klipsch vs Polk - You need to carry some of your own material and listen yourself and decide. I listened to some Polk TSI 400'S vs Klipsch Icon W-34's....The Polks cleaned house...with my type of music. On movies however - I gave the edge to the Icons. I own Klipsch Heritage series speakers - There are others that I like better and are better - it all depends on you - You will have to live with them ![]() |

I agree with Prerich. The Klipsch's are OUTSTANDING for home theater, but they aren't the most musical speakers in the world. If this is for a system that is mostly dedicated to movies, I would go with the Klipsch. If you listen to a lot of music as well, I would audition some other speakers.

I don't want to give anyone the impression that they are awful for music. They aren't. I really only use mine for music when I'm cleaning house or for parties. They more than suit that purpose. However, if I think if I were a more passionate music afficionado; I'd be disappointed with them. They sometimes seem a little harsh with some music. Although the more hours I put on them, the more they mellow. But for movie watching? I LOVE them, very crisp and detailed. |

A more fair comparison would be the W-34s ($1200/pair) vs. the RTi A9s ($1300/pair). http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Flo...5852262&sr=1-2 ![]() |
