The Three Stooges (Cliff Notes Version aka Wise Guy, eh? Version)

For those who don't know, Moe Howard, Shemp, and Jerome (aka Curly) were brothers, with Shemp the oldest and "little" Jerry the youngest.

The original stooges (called Ted Healy and His Stooges) were a vaudeville act featuring Ted Healy (in the role of the easily aggrevated hot tempered leader), Larry Fine, Shemp, and Moe, and sometimes a few additional stooges. Their first film Soup to Nuts (1930) included a fifth stooge Fred Sanborn. For several years in the early 1930s, the group was in flux. Healy left then later returned. Shemp departed after a falling out with Healy and started a solo career.

In 1932, with just Ted, Moe, and Larry, little Howard brother Jerry shaved off his hair and mustache and joined the troupe using the stage name Curly. In early 1934, Healy went off to pursue a solo career and departed for good. That same year Moe, Larry, and Curly renamed themselves The Three Stooges and signed a deal with Columbia Pictures. Moe took over Healy's role as the leader of the group.

In 1946, after a series of strokes, Curly left the group to recuperate. Shemp agreed to return and fill in for his ill little brother, intending only to be a temporary replacement. However, despite feeling well enough to appear in Hold That Lion! in 1947 - the only Stooges film to feature all three Howard brothers and Larry - Curly did not rejoin the group, suffering more strokes before passing away in 1952 at the age of 48.

Shemp continued with the Stooges for nine years, until he died of a heart attack in 1955 at the age of 60.

Yes sir, I do know their family tree. With regards to Healy, let us not forget that he truly departed for good under suspicious circumstances, and the scuttlebutt for many decades was that he had been beaten to death by a beery Wallace Beery and future James Bond producer 'Cubby' Broccoli, with the murder covered up by notorious MGM 'fixer' Eddie Mannix, who also may have had Superman George Reeves snuffed. Did Shemp have a hand in any of these untimely deaths? It is not my place to speculate on such matters, but a man with a mug like this is capable of anything:

(For the record, I'm not complaining about these 3-D shorts, which should be a fun addition.)
Oh, Larry, Curly & Moe are without a doubt the most famous lineup. It's just that your post implied that somehow the actual Shemp wasn't a "real" Stooge and I thought maybe you were confusing Shemp with the "fake Shemps" terminology.

They also stated that a 4k transfer of "My Cousin Rachel" is in progress. That leaves us with the following list to speculate from:

The Kremlin Letter
Woman Obsessed
The Flim-Flam Man
My Cousin Rachel (Probable)
Stagecoach (Waiting on new transfer)
The Left Hand of God
LEFT HAND OF GOD would be welcome. Bogart blu-rays have done well for Warner Archives lately. Maybe TT will take note.

I've held off on paying for the DVD... tempted by import blurays. Would gladly pay for a TT blu. But not sure how much longer I can hold out...

AMERICAN BUFFALO in stock again at TT and SAE $9.95. It appears they are able to sell remaining units after all.

Presumably, TT was able to work out something with the new rights holder.

Thanks. I wonder how many copies are left? Seems it was moving very briskly prior to the "deadline".

New rights holder probably thought, "we think we can only get $5 for this title if we are lucky, you can get $10? Go for it."

I think TT going to 4 titles a month is reasonable. I'll be honest though, I probably will skip their Jan/Feb offererings. Stanely and Iris is the only one that I'm remotely interested in.

I think Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte is late. My order of The Chase has shipped while my separate order of Charlotte is still pending.

Agreed. To be honest, trying to just see all the films they announce that I've never seen before has been a chore. I rarely blind buy, especially at $30/title, but I also don't want to see something for the first time and have it already sold out. Suffice it to say my rental viewing has skewed heavily in TT titles the past three years.
