Default What do you like to collect?

I have had many collections so far. When i was younger i collected sports cards, rocks, stamps, celebrity autographs, and have recently gotten into collecting first edition books. Of course i also have a movie and music collection and i am assuming most people on this site do too. Just wondering what other people like to collect.

right now my only real collecting is movies, but I have many books (Inherited most of them but when I walk in front of a sale I always find a few worth buying-more adhoc then a strategic collection), but younger, I used to collect deck of cards and shot glasses (when ever anyone went somewhere or when I traveled I would get a shot glass or more and sometimes a deck of cards.

I used to collect card games, like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh or Marvel/DC Overpower.
I sold all my Pokémon & Yu-Gi-Oh cards a while ago though. Every once in a while I get the urge to check eBay for Overpower cards, I still need some DC ones to complete the collection. I haven't even started on Image Overpower or anything past the original Marvel Overpower! *sigh* There are days when I just get tired of seeing them and want to list the entire set on eBay lol

I also collect 1971 Buick Riviera (sometimes 72 and 73) cars Die cast and model cars, not the real thing. One day I'll own a real one!

!!!!

HOOOOLY crap, that brings me back. I was big from Mirage up til Prophecy, then I stopped playing. Tempest/Stronghold were my big boys. Dang. I rememeber that. Sold them all 5 years ago for a lot of $$ on eBay....

Then I started collecting NFL replica jerseys around my senior year in high school. Then I started collecting flashy jewelry, then Air Force 1s from Nike during my urban youth days...now I've settled on movies and home theater equipment, and couldn't be happier!

As far as I can remember I don't think I have ever collected anything just for the sake of collecting that is.

I've been collecting arcade games for a few years now, I have thirty-one right now. Also have three pinballs and a Skee-ball machine. Recently I've started collecting horror memorabilia. My newest acquisition:

I recall you mentioning this in another thread(s) once before. Do you work on arcade games for a living? The reason I ask is that I was searching around for Cocktail Games, found a FL site and you immediately sprang to mind.

No. I can do simple repairs, wiring mostly. I have done a little monitor work, but discharging them can be a little scary. Requires a screwdriver and a grounding strap.

My wife loves Galaga and I've been tossing the idea of purchasing a refurb of some type. I'm drawn to the table design (for sentimental reasons I think), but an upright model would work too. This is the site I found: http://www.arcadegamesales.net/
Their prices are average. By that I mean high.

I come across them from time to time. They can usually be had for less than $800, lowest I've seen a working model is $250. Still kicking myself for not getting that one. One option is to build your own cabinet and put a computer in it, then run Mame. That way for the floorspace of one game you'll have a couple hundred. I've got plans for the Galaga cocktail somewhere if your interested. That's one of the more popular games so you can find repro. artwork reasonably priced.

Hadn't considered that - that's a great idea. I'm always swamp with PC spares.
