yes - so make sure you watch it in a proper IMAX 16:9 screen (the Brum one I went too is widescreen so there were teenie black bars at the top an bottom, rather than the big obvious bars in a full IMAX 16:9 screen....i noticed the slim bars disappear though and plan to watch it again, properly, in a better IMAX screen)

1600 credits each. There is an $8.75 flat shipping fee for posters

I really hope they add an IMAX-sized poster.
thats a point, did anyone get an IMAX release day poster?

I got one from my cinema (after hunting it down) but its not any that were advertised and is the first to not mention IMAX anywhere on it (I've most phase 2 IMAX posters and they usually state IMAX somewhere)

The Hulk/Thor and IM2 stories all take place in the same week, with Avengers close after that - so we're talking what, a month, including the NYC attack, before Strange's accident? Its a possible timeline and the only one, that in my mind, fits. Otherwise, Strange didnt train for years, as indicated by his line about how he trained to reattach nerves - years of practice and study - and learnt all his magic in weeks/months top's. Which I dont think is likley.
Nah I think the movie started in late 2012 just after the NYC attack, and his training started in say late 2013 through to now - its also the only way Wong's comment about the Avengers defending earth from physical threat, and the IM2 armor aspects fit and make sense
to me at least
[Show spoiler]It's hard to say because I'm not sure there's any way to really tell the exact time period it starts in. We see the new Avengers tower sporting the "A" (instead of STARK like at the beginning of TA), so obviously it's after then, but there would've needed to be time to repair it to the state it's in, since it did get a bit wrecked in The Avengers.

And upon further thought, it would only have to be set sometime after IM2 (which we know it is) in order for the patient he was told about to be the Hammer guy, because he wouldn't have necessarily been told straight after it happened, it could've been any time after when it occurred.

I'm seeing it again today though, so I'll try to suss out if there's any more indicators about when it starts and the period of time over which it takes place, because it does make sense to me it was years, but I don't recall anything pointing to that the first time I saw it. But it can be hard to see that level of detail on the first watch, and I always pick stuff up on other viewings, and I don't think this will be any exception.

"Forget everything you think you know" is one of the most cliche and cringeworthy lines of dialogue/marketing in history.

You can do better than that, man. This movie might be awesome but that doesn't make what I said false.

I know I've heard it before but I wouldn't be able to come up with any titles, either.

Watching The Accountant recently reminded me of another "this line needs to be retired" candidate: "How will I find you?" "Don't worry, I'll find YOU!"

If you forget everything you know it won't be cliche anymore.

With the average rating hanging around 7/10, it should be mentioned. We always tend to forget about the rating, it doesn't help that the studios themselves tend to push the tomatometer score in TV spots and such too.

Something something about war/the last fight.
"This is the only way."
"I've never felt power like this before."
"What are we, some kind of suicide squad?"

By far the cutest promo out there:

At least it's less out there than Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas slapping their legs and chanting "Ants, ants, ants".

I'll be honest and say I'm not completely familiar with Dr Strange myself (5 mins on Wikipedia remedies that lol) but i enjoyed the movie and I think it felt quite close to the great animated movie.

Well after all that, I just got back from my second showing and
[Show spoiler]I saw an award in Strange's cabinet that's dated 2016 when he's taking his watch out before the accident. So it actually takes place this year, unless there's some sort of award he won for a future year. Although maybe this particular film takes place in the near future after that point, to account for the time it would take for Strange to go through operations and then become a sorcerer?

And listening to the description of the person with the crushed spine or whatever, they're said to be 35, which completely rules out Rhodey (if he was ever an option) because he's around 15 years north of that age.

Saw it in IMAX again and I'm glad Marvel has a good track record so far of releasing their films on BD with the opened up ratio, because this is definitely the best way to watch it, especially with over half the movie taking place in 1.90. I'm going to see it a few more times, but it just won't be the same in non-IMAX imo.

It was a breath of fresh air in the marvel universe, both Cappy and this were brilliant.

I'll keep it short:

-visually stunning
-Cumberbatch/Ejiofor/Swinton are great
-The fights between the magicians are great
-One of the few movies, which actually justifies the use of 3D

-not even Mads Mikkelsen can save bad Marvel Villain characterizations

One of my favourite MCU Entries

8/10

Remember that for the CBM, 7s is pretty good. The high end comic book movies are in the high 7s, low 8s. TDK is I think 8.5.

You just want to stay away from the 4s and 5s.
