Actually, for cutting edge news, 500gigs on a CD-Type disc isn't a lot. I remember two years ago, there was something called a M.O.D.S disk which I think stood for "Multi-Operational-Direcional-Stepping" disc.
It worked on the same principle as a DVD, except that the laser could read the same pit on a disc at 340 different angles and each "angle" the laser read the pit could yield a different information. All together, the disc could hold about 1,200 gigs of content (600gigs per side). |
