I would keep it. I purchased a Harmony One and returned it a week later, In my opinion the $200 price tag was alot and after a week of using it I returned it and went back to my 550 that i puchased when it first came out. The touch screen and the grip are good but like I said $200 was a lot of money at the time and I really do like the 500 ( i am not just saying that because I have it) I like the look and it is a good remote $80 is a ok price Amazon has it for that much and Walmart has it for $84 because it is a outlet item.
If you want to use it with your ps3 you will have to purchase a remote and program it with your 550 and I think even with that you can not turn it on or off. Good Luck! |

I don't have the 550, but I do have the 664 and the 880. I definitely recommend Harmony remotes, especially the 880. Once you get up and running with them, you'll wonder how you got by with regular universal remotes. My wife and son can easily operate all the HT gear with it. The only thing I'd swap my 880 for is probably a Crestron touch screen controller, but those cost a ton more money.
If you haven't opened the 550 yet, and you don't mind factory refurbished gear, you might consider this one: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmo...6W06AX1Z62HB78 It's a factory refurbished Harmony 880, which has a color LCD screen, and is optimized for DVR use (skip forward, skip back, etc.). It also has a few more programable buttons than the 550, and it comes with a charging base. I use it in my home theater room, and it controls everything I have, including my PS3. Plus, like all Harmony remotes, it is updated via the web, so you will always be able to control the latest IR gear. I bought mine new for $150, but this refurbished one is only $79. |

nah 80 is tops i'll pay for a remote. anymore than that i'll just keep thinking about how much cash i blew on it, start to over think and analyze things like well that 80 bucks could be like 4 films or a box set, etc and then i'll end up returning it lol As for the refurbished idea, i don't think i'll do that again have had some bad experiences with refurbished products and not to mention I'm old school if i can't pay cash i wont pay at all so buying online isn't gonna happen. Oh i already have a PS3 remote so that shouldn't be a problem to program. But is this the brand that i should go with Logitech? or are there more entry lvl remotes from different brands out there?

i've had the 550 for a long time now, and it's a great remote. if you know how to use the logitech software and spend the time to learn all the features it offers, the 550 can do pretty much anything you want it to. The only criticism i have is that the number buttons are way too small and too close together. it makes it very difficult to type in the channel I want, and my hands aren't even that big.

I've got either the 520 or 550...I'm pretty sure they are the same thing. At any rate months ago I bought it for 80 bucks and couldn't be more pleased. I got big time sick of remotes floating around everywhere. Also if you have the ps3 don't forget to stop by best buy and pick up the blu wave usb toggle to control the ps3 as well.

The 550 was 59.95$ at Bureau en gros (staples) on the second week of October.
It's a great remote, I have a 520 and a 550 and my brother has two 550 and they are really great! 80$ is not a bad deal, but if you can wait I'm sure you'll come across a better deal. By the way, the 550 is 80$ regular price on Amazon.ca |

the 550 is a decent remote, my only complaint is the buttons will wear so you cant see the writting on them anymore. i replaced my 550 with a 880 and i like the feel of the 550 better but the 880 has better buttons and has a charging dock.

As for the remote, I've had the 550 for awhile, and it's one of the better looking remotes. As for as features are concerned, all of 500 series remotes are basically the same, whether it be the 550, 520, or the Xbox one, they all function the same, and have 99% of their buttons in common. The only difference you'll notice in functionality is if you jump up to the 880 or above. No real complaints about the 550 for me. The small numeric keypad is a bit of a nuisance, and the remote doesn't really fit the contours of your hand, so those are a few of the minor drawbacks. But like all the Harmony remotes, they work well, and this particular model looks pretty stylish. It doesn't have a charging dock, so you try to keep rechargeable batteries around. I find it goes through the 4 AAA's after about 3-4 months, which I think is pretty good. If you haven't purchased a universal remote before, and you like the 550, just go for it now, and don't worry about keeping an eye out for a sale down the road to save yourself another $10 or $15. You'll have gotten much use out of the remote by that time to have justified spending that extra $10 or $15. Good luck with it, and enjoy your new toy. |

I have one and love it. Occasionally it misses turning my cable box on, but I think it has a lot to do with the coffee table being in the way of the signal. I wish it had the charging dock of some of the more expensive models, but I bought 2 sets of rechargeable batteries to make up for it. I always have a set ready to go. It doesn't control my Wii (no biggie since I only play games on it) or my PS3, but I plan to buy an IR4PS3 or IR2BT to change that. Both have full Logitech support.
