Default What movie has the best supplements?

I do tend to get a little bored with a step by step documentary on the making of a movie. What movie has supplements and commentary that should not be overlooked?

If you are talking on BD only, I found the extras on 300 & Troy to be very interesting, not too long for each subject and there is quite a lot to watch.

If you mean general I would see Star Wars Episode 1-3 but its a bit insane, I am surprise they have show the actors in the bathroom.

The one with the most extras would be the Lord Of The Ring Extended cut, so much stuff on these DVD you can spend a few days looking at them and all of it very interesting. (my opinion)

The Ultimate Matrix Collection has the Animatrix in HD.

The Adventures of Robin Hood has several classic animated shorts in HD.

The Godfather Coppola Restoration has an interesting documentary on the restoration process which was supervised by our very own Robert A. Harris.

Yes, the Lord of the Rings movies have by far the most supplemental material. If they are released on blu-ray next year (as has been reported in this forum), I wonder which supplements they will include? There are theatrical, extended versions, and the latest release which includes both versions. I hope the blu-rays include both versions as well as all of the supplemental material included in all three releases.

I love the last one on the last disc of the third movie, where they show the world premiere in Wellington with the huge celebration and they then go to the Oscars....its such a good little piece a bit sad but so interesting. Also if anyone never seen this, you got to see what was done for the premiere in Oslo, they re-created scenes from the first 2 movies with actors on stage before showing the third movie, crazy

Don't count on this happening on the first go around is WB has any say in it. They will release bare bone titles and then a couple month later or when the Hobbit movies come out youll get some extras and maybe the extended cut. Then when the Hobbit movies come to bluray youll get all extras and both cuts.

Now if Peter Jackson has his way, I am sure he will release the extended cuts and all special features first go around. Only time will tell. Wouldn't expect these to hit stores until Christmas 09

Is that at a theater? Do they show them all back-to-back? I haven't heard of any such yearly events here in the Seattle area.

I'm very upset I didn't get an invite. I've never seen any LOTR's and LOVE pizza!

You might be "kind of" in luck. Until they are released on blu-ray, the best I have been able to do is watch the theatrical versions back-to-back in high definition on TNT. They show them like that twice a year - I think they are going to do it at the end of this month.

Alamo Drafthouse in Austin TX will show the festival with a Hobbit feast on Nov 30, 2008.
