They will order anything into the store for you (as long as it's available in their warehouse), so if you haven't opened it yet, you can bring it back and order the blu. There's plenty of time for them to get it in before the sale ends.

I just noticed The Immortal Story was recently released. I haven't watched it because it never seemed like much more than a curiosity to me, but it has a decent enough critical consensus to merit a viewing. What do you guys think of it?

Some of mine came via UPS in July and it was absolutely fine. How many BDs are in this order? One single BD came via UPS for me which was under customs obviously but then UPS delivered one with three in one package, which should have been over but it cleared no problem.

I don't know why exactly B&N do this either as I didn't pay especially for expedited shipping. Not complaining though, you'll most likely get them tomorrow or Tuesday.

The ones sent via Acendia are usually OK customs wise I think, but they take a while. Mine may have been reshipped via France (?) last time which helped.

Last B&N order I had was Ascendia and no customs.. wish I had them this time :/.

Theres 3 items in the package but the value is $139...

I find UPS quite reliable in terms of delivery date, so it should be here by 12 tomorow.. I hope no later as I will be at cinema !

Just hope they don't come damaged as they are all digital style, no plastic cases... What are B&N like for replacements? Be a pain to ship them back to US if they are damaged .

Hmm, you might be alright. I know in the UK thread last year Sifox said he had a couple of customs issues with his orders (if I remember correctly) but some seem to slip through. Also depends how B&N mark up the package I guess.

I'd be quietly hopeful.

How much is customs charges now anyway? Last time I was hit it was £18 I think but that was years ago, oil ever had customs once.

Here's hoping... going to get cash out though just incase so I can pay at door (hopefully).

I'd wondered the same. I ended up picking it up during the Flash sale because I just couldn't wait any longer.

Seems kind of odd, to me, since all the individual movies are widely available. But the price point is lowered for the set, so it seems Criterion are just doing something special for the set.

just checked amazon and it seems only 3rd party sellers have it for sale.

is it exclusive to the criterion site?

I'm not sure tbh, I've never actually had to deal with it. Is there not also an infuriating handling charge that goes with it too?

What did you get anyway?

To anyone that's interested, Fandor has quite a few of Welles' movies:

The Trial
Around the World
Othello
Black Magic
The Strangetoo much Johnson (plus the workprint)
Hearts of age

And Hulu has Confidential Report, F. For Fake, and immortal story for another week I believe.

The only way to access Filmstruck right now is Android and iOS apps and Amazon Fire TV. AppleTV is supposed to be available at beginning of December and Roku sometime early next year. Not sure of any other apps.

Chromecast is also supposed to be available for FilmStruck in early 2017.

I've been using my Amazon fire TV stick and it's been working pretty good.

This is a must. The viewing will come somewhat of a surprise if you've only seen the two available titles.
Thank you for the heads up on this!

I also noticed In Our Time is streaming on Prime.

Of the Tarkovsky on Filmstruck, is there any reason why Stalker and Andrei Rublev don't show the Criterion logo? http://imgur.com/a/8sxaG

Supposedly Criterion is supposed to have the rights to them all—from Mosfilm, according to a Reddit post from a while back. However, the Reddit post did not mention Mosfilm had given the rights to Steamroller and the Violin—did Criterion get those rights from someone else?

Just curious, as I'm definitely hoping for some new Tarkovsky releases, or even a boxset like some have speculated. It would also be cool to get a Voyage in Time in HD too. By the way, any other Tarkovsky docs that are good?

Stalker isn't in the Criterion collection..? So thats probably why :P Maybe they will add when they release it on Bluray?

Andrei Rublev is in the Collection and has no logo, and The Mirror, and Steamroller, are not, and do.

https://i.redd.it/yewbg2l87rix.jpg

And according to this e-mail, which I would like to think is authentic, Criterion does currently (I would assume currently?) have the rights to Stalker, as well as the rest, with the exception of Steamroller, which is why I asked about where its rights would come from.

It might just be an overlook thing. I don't think it's something to worry too much about, since the film stream itself has their logo, it's just missing on the thumbnail. Like I said, just curious—mostly about Steamroller and the Violin, though. It would be a fantastic supplement on a new release.

Try playing the movie, it shows the CC logo. It's just a website thing.
