I still think that is excessive during a movie that will likely only last a couple of hours.

Once or twice is excessive just to make sure nothing is happening while you are hard to get in contact with? Ok. This isn't taking out the phone and waving it around for all to see, this is quickly turning on the screen to see if a notification is there then turning off the screen.

It doesn't matter how long you do it for - it's irritating. That phone screen light is a distraction, no matter how subtle you think you are being. It takes people out of the movie they paid to see. I don't think you or me or anyone else has the right to do that. It's just common courtesy, really.

Really no point in arguing with them.

My phone brightness is the lowest and there is no illumination on my face. THe brightness is so low i can barely see what's on the screen sometimes.

If it's not bothering someone, mind your own f---ing business. If someone on their phone briefly where it's not bothering anyone is something people care so deeply about, perhaps they need to reevaluate their life.

If I see a light not a part of the building or carried by anyone other than an employee, I'm telling you to put it away. If your life needs that phone within the time it takes for an entire movie to play, don't go to the theatre. There are people whose lives need reevaluating and it's not the people who can watch a movie uninterrupted.

You should have amazing vision if the light is so dim that I can barely see it.

Have you ever seen a Samsung phone that's under 5% battery life? The screen is so dim there's really just no way you'd be able to catch it from a distance.

Here's my quote again:

If I don't see a light, I won't say anything. The same way I can't tell people behind me using their phones to stop because I don't see them.

BUT, it's clear there are more than a few people who think their phones are "no big deal" to others. Giving all people the benefit of the doubt, which I am inclined to do, anyone who uses their phone in the theatre doesn't seem to think it's an issue. But it is. Always.

The bottom line is it's terrible theatre etiquette. There's no excuse.

I will be the first to callout a person whoms phone is super bright. Or if they're talking on the phone trying to be quiet I'll say the same thing because whispering in a theater full of quiet people is still noisy.

Let's call a truce friend, only because I see you like Darkonda.

I don't think anybody's saying that the sight of somebody's phone is enough to drive them into an inconsolable rage from which neither party will escape unscathed. They're just saying it's a wee bit annoying and rude.

What "anyone" is saying here is just having your phone out period, brightness be damned, is the biggest sin of sins.

That's what you don't get. It does bother people (and who are you to judge when it does or doesn't?). So no, we don't mind our ****ing business.
