I have Directv and saw the 90 minute premiere last week.
It's also available for those with AT&T U-Verse. Anyways, I thought it was decent. Very slickly produced and had a gritty atmosphere. One major annoyance is the show takes place in Los Angeles, but is shot in Vancouver. They use stock footage for wide angle shots and the rest is faked in the streets of Vancouver and sets. Not a huge fan of the lead Cam Gigandet. I didn't like the actor when he was a villain on The OC years ago. Not sure for me he's very believable as some badass criminal diamond thief. For the record, Directv is promoting this as an Antoine Fuqua show. However, he's only a credited EP and directed the Pilot. He didn't create the show and isn't a writer on it. |

His name is synonymous with the show. Everything that I have read or seen about the show mentions his name. You may be right. They may be trying to cash in on Antoine Fuqua's name/ fame. The difference between the stock footage and set footage has a diff look and feel to it. It didn't bother me. I never watched the OC. I don't have that reference to draw upon. I don't think, I have ever seen Cam Gigandet in anything before. In this role he seemed to fit right in. Definitely some room for improvement. Its a an interesting view on a non romanticized aspect of organized crime. Whoever is going to produce the rest of the episodes has some pretty big shoes to fill. I enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing how it develops. |
