I ment when a studio does the mixing using one of the codecs, for example dolby uses dialnorm. i know what it is, and why they use it http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...on-6-2000.html but why would they alter the sound?

also i heard sony turns off dial norm on there movies?

Wow i didn't know that, why are these studios moving away from PCM? blu-ray has the space for it obviously so why not use it.
dont call it wasted space cause if its being used its in no way wasted.
