But are they one-offs or episodic like Planet Earth?

Strangely enough there's no UHD from BBC UK, the BD was released on December 5th, but no UHD.

I hope the episodes are the same worldwide and not different length and narrators as the previous season...

Why the heck isn't this getting released in U.K yet? Very bizarre. I hope this is not going to be exclusive to BBC Iplayer as their first 4K programme in the future. Incredible waste if it is.

The Blu-Ray (maybe including the 4K one?) was supposed to be out today, but it's MIA.

Let me be more clear: the 1080p version is in stock in UK, but the 4K version is not.

Amazon in US does not have any version in stock.

It's not even on BBC America until January 28th.

Quite a few BBC shows are only released on Blu-Ray in the US, you can only get them on disc on DVD in the UK (which is a shame). Or worse, they'll release it worldwide but slow down the 25p footage to 24p, or if it's truely 50i, they'll interpolate it to 60i (because non-Region B players don't support 25p or 50i, whereas all players support 25p, 30p and 60i...

bit of a joke really http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/p..._medium=social

So it's starting to show up on iplayer in 4k hdr but you can only watch in hdr if you have a certain panasonic tv that supports HLG HDR. Seriously? As if it wasn't bad enough already.....

Already had a feeling, BBC would use Planet Earth II as showcasing for HLG and make it exclusive. Shame.

Think we could see more HLG hardware/content on CES 2017 then.

The test involves four minutes of footage from its Planet Earth II series, which promise to reveal more detail and present more vibrant colours than was possible before.

Still, it's kinda cool that the current Panny TV's have HLG. This I did not know. Newer product generations from Sony will likely include it too, which makes their OLED next year an even more tempting proposition.

Geeze... all these new techs coming out. if you were to wait on a TV purchase until the dust settles on new technology, you'll never buy a TV again!

I just bought the LG 65" OLED E6 with Dolby Vision, now there's HLG and no word yet if my TV will be firmware-upgradeable to it, or if LG is going to say "No, buy a new TV".

I wasn't alive for it, but I know back in the day TV buying decisions were simply: "This one's Black & White! This one's in colour! This one's in colour and comes with a remote!"

I know that this is only a test for broadcast HDR 4k but why use a format 95% of tv manufacturers haven't even mentioned before let alone support.

As long as the UHD release comes ill be fine. They can keep their broadcasts to themselves.
