Tarkin looked off a few times, and had the CGI stare sometimes, but overall they did a wonderful job. I think most people that don't know he is CG, won't notice. My wife surely didn't.
I thought Leia was some actress in make up. Can't believe people are bothered by her.

Some of the nods to ANH were a bit much, such as the in-your-face shot of the blue milk, or the Cantina gansters, etc., but it didn't bother me since it also brought so much new stuff to the table.

There is one problem though: The OT looks enormously antiquated now.
John Knoll should give it a proper facelift.

The explosion of Planet Alderaan looks like a joke compared to the destruction of the city here. Also, the Star Destroyer crashing into a Super Star Destroyer has always looked unconvincing as heck, but now that we get to see how it's done properly, it's just unbearable in ROTJ.

The Mon Calimari species looked spot-on perfect, and I really couldn't tell whether it's make up or CG. That's how it's done.

Seeing it again tonight!!!!

I don't think they knew what was coming. I was expecting either the troopers cutting their way thru like in ANH...or even Vader's saber cut through.

Does anyone think that instead of CG Tarkin, they could have brought back Ian McDiarmid, re do his make up and it would have been more convincing and people would probably complain less.

I really hope there is a behind the scenes segment on the Blu Ray when it comes to the recreation of Tarkin. I know the Cinefex Magazines cover special effects in movies so I wouldn't be surprised if they do an article about this. I also know that sometimes they have animation/cg seminars for companies and they go thru hours taking about the effects of a movie and how exactly it was done.

Were Red and Gold leader the same technology as Tarkin and Leia? Or lookalikes? Either way I loved seeing them in the movie, did not expect that.

What I liked best about the movie: no major plot holes, and seamless flow from this movie into ANH.

No love for Nat? Her acting may have been wooden but she was nice to look at.

This. I cringed when he made that pun. As he walked away, I muttered to myself "He doesn't do puns, what the hell?" My friend next to me chuckled.

I think they might have taking the footage from ANH, and replaced the background space shots to reflect the space battle.

It seemed my entire theater roared with laughter over this and pretty much anything Tudyk said. That droid was perfect.

That would explain why those shots looked so good. If it's CGI, it's some of the best I've ever seen cuz it looked real.

BTW, I had no problem with the Tarkin cameo. It may have been cuz I was seeing it in 3D, but I thought it looked really convincing and he had a lot more screentime than I expected. The only complaint I'd make about that is the voice. It was good, but not quite Peter Cushing.

I had no interest in reading that novel (I really don't read anymore these days) but now I'm curious. I may pick it up at Target today when I go there after work.

Yeah I was like huh? when he was choking Krennic and said along the lines of "Don't choke on your aspirations..." Why would he do that to Krennic? The only time he would choke someone is when Vader was pissed at them...example when that guy was pissing him off when he was insulting the force or killing off Ozzl for coming in too close to the system.... but what did Krennic do?

He hasn't failed Vader....so wth?

I LOVE ROGUE ONE.

Rogue One explains a long debated plot hole in A New Hope and expands on that dilemma with an intelligent explanation, interesting new characters, and a heart felt pulse pounding 3rd act. Also the last 10 minutes are a fanboy's dream!

That ending had my whole theater erupting. Seeing Vader kick so much ass, in really a way I've never seen before, was like a jolt of the force itself rushing through my veins. I haven't had a theater experience like this in a while.

And the ending was so heartfelt...seeing Rogue One ultimately give their lives for a bigger cause. It just makes the beginning of A New Hope that much better. It adds so much weight to Leia's mission.

It's officially my top film of the year! It might even be my 2nd favorite Star Wars films, just behind Empire.

I LOVE ROGUE ONE!!

It makes more sense if you've read Catalyst. Galen Erso is more or less Krennic's pet project and who he hitched his wagon to. If this is what caused the weakness, Vader is letting him know he'd be responsible.

Everyone is saying how bad CG Leia looked. I thought that she looked perfect!
Tarkin looked almost perfect, something to do with his mouth; maybe its because we see him much more in the movie.
Overall, best Cgi reproductions of actual people I've ever seen!

Vader doesn't do one-liners. That should've been cut out. The way Vader threatens someone is with lines like "I find your lack of faith disturbing", "Apology accepted, Captain Needa", or "The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am".

He's menacing, even in an amusing or ironic way, but he shouldn't use puns. Frankly almost no one in Star Wars should. There's a reason people were cringing at the midnight showing of Episode II when 3PO made his "such a drag" and "beside myself" remarks.
