I decided to buy Corpse Bride and see if I'd get it this time. Didn't really happen. But I was really impressed by how amazing a stop-motion movie could look in Blu though!
I know it's animation and I should expect it but I didn't. Now I wanted to get Nightmare Before Christmas. Are there any other Stop-Motion/Claymotion movies in Blu? |

Nightmare Before Christmas is a must buy, I knew it would be good from the reviews but once I saw it I was really surprised how much detail it showed.
I don't know of any others though, I just have Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas unless one is slipping my mind at the moment. |

Harryhausen used stop motion a lot, the movie isn't all stop motion, but a lot of the SFX are.

you may try the Ray Harryhausen box set on blu including: 20 million miles to earth, seventh voyage of Simbad etc... all the spfx on the these movies were shot using the stop motion technique, it was called for marketing fancy reason: dynamation ![]() |

(very undecisive sometimes) From the review on this site it seems that's more a rental than a purchase. Is that a wrong assumption? I hope TNBC is cheap for BF. Since it's holiday themed it should be right? ![]() |

well there's no chance they are gonna look like new movies so most people is disappointed about the high presence of film grain. That's the way the movies were... i saw only 7th voyage it's ok...a little improvement over the dvd... but a better framing at 1.66:1 instead of 1.85 of the dvd. Most of those movies were shot FF cauz' of the spfx. It is funny dough (it has not been mentioned anywhere) that since the cinemascope was big at that time columbia released 7th voyage in a cinemascope print as well... i had one few years ago... |

I want "The Adventures of Mark Twain" which was the first full length Claymation feature.

cinemascope was an anamorphic system usin a 35mm film negative copyrighted by Fox in early 50's the aspect ratio would be 2.55:1 you would watch a tv screen with large black bars over and under the picture rebel without a cause, the robe, the fly are some examples. today anamorphic widescreen 35mm film negative is with an aspect ratio of 2.39:1 the black bars are smaller in this case. |

I don't remember all of what happened, but I do remember sometime during the Adam and Eve section they gathered us up and made us leave. ![]() I remember sitting outside the theater on the curb with all the other kids waiting for them to get the bus to come back and get us and take us back to the day care. And I remember one of the women who worked there was just ranting and raving over how horrible it was and it was so offensive. ha ha ha ha |

But my actual church was pretty cool. We watched Wide Awake which contains some language but is a great movie. |

It wasn't so much ahead of its time being that the widescreen lens and 3-d was invented in the 1920's but came along at the right time to enhance the theater experience. The aspect ratio of 2.55:1 is for super cinemascope and which was to compete with cinerama and todd-ao. |
