Why get all worked up about it? The LOTR movies suck anyway.

That, my friend, belongs in the "I miss the controversial opinions thread" thread.

According to the Digital Bits, it's true.

I hope by then Warner will be smart enough to provide the titles in highest bit rate video and full HD audio with no extra DNR. Hopefully they'll also be the extended editions.

I don't mind if the appendices aren't included as I'll keep my DVD sets, but if they are converted to Hi-def I'm good with that too
*****
While the graphic indicates coming soon, TheDigitalBits.com indicates that the titles are in fact coming in 2009.

How could you even care if the movie has any DNR? It already looks like it was shot through the "Barbara Streisend lens filter".

If you hate the movies so much, you should just stay out of the thread about them. There's no reason to interrupt people discussing a film they're excited about getting by saying "Me too, right guys. Watch me fart in my hand and smell it." That's essentially what you're doing.

You remind me of when I was in the ninth grade and my family just got the internet.
Yes, those were the days. 1996.
I went on the Dawson's Creek chat room and kept hitting "enter" until I got booted off.

Yep, that's my plan. I'll freely admit it. Did the same thing with the DVDs, and came out close to break-even in the end because of the deals I got on both at the time.

I am entitled to state my opinion on any thread I want. If the the person who started this thread only wanted people who liked the movie to comment about it he/she should have named it " Lord of the Rings in 2009 (only people who like it can comment) Thread''. But he didn't. I have made it clear on any thread I have started that I welcome everbodys opinion. Apparently you don't feel the same way, but that's not my problem.

I'd prefer the regular cases in a boxset but the extra slim cases for the Matrix collection weren't too bad. Basically, I just hope each movie gets its own case.

Really hope that doesn't happen as well although I don't hate the digibooks. Just prefer the regular cases.

I don't completely agree with this. I think it'll hurt the sales of it as you can tell from the comments but they're my all-time favorite movies and I'm almost as excited about the theatrical edition as I am the extended edition. That is, when I saw the movies at the theater, I thought they were the best movies I had ever seen. Just because the extended edition added more footage and made it more complete doesn't all of sudden make me think that the theatrical versions are garbage. To be honest, I don't even understand that sentiment. If I was trying to list my all-time favorites, the LoTR trilogy would be at the top. If I had to split them out, it would be:

1. LoTR 1 extended
2. LoTR 2 extended
3. LoTR 3 extended
4. LoTR 1 theatrical
5. LoTR 2 theatrical
6. LoTR 3 theatrical

So, why on earth would I pass up my 4th, 5th, and 6th all-time favorites when there's a chance I can have them in late 2009? There's no way I'm passing on them.

Not me. I will buy the Extended Edition only. I admit I am excited about this trilogy, I loved the book and for once that a movie is faithful to a book and does not totally disfigure it (like the Harry Potter movies did).
So I admit it will not be easy to watch the theatrical version pass me by, but that's exactly what I'll do.

What you are doing is actually called trolling. I think its pathetic that people that have nothing contructive to say think its ok to act like 4 year olds. Haven't you got anything better to do than hang around on a thread about a film you don't like. Prob not because you are a troll.

That's true! but if We show them How much we care about the moives, by telling them what track and specal features we would like, it may help them in making the Blu-ray the ULTMATE editon. I'm think for starting a new thread that fans of the films can tell WB what we want for the thetrical and Extended edtitions audio-Extras. I'm also thing about doing the same for kong.

There is a huge difference between what you CAN do and what you SHOULD do. A thread with a movie title in the name that doesn't end in "sucks" probably is going to be populated by people who are actually interested in the movie. Popping in to say that it sucks does not add to that discussion.

Can you? yes.
Should you? no.
I bet your momma taught you that, no?

It was fairly predictable this would happen. The Hobbit is out in 2010 and they're obviously going to want to tie in with it. If you don't like the theatrical versions, don't buy them.

I should add that the Extended Editions might look okay in SD, but some of the effects might look pretty ropey in HD and might have to be redone. So it wouldn't hurt to wait if it means a better product. Even so, I expect most of the extras will still be in SD.

As I understand, the EEs were done with theatrical quality effects. I think PJ was more forward thinking than to do them in DVD quality only. I would be shocked if New Line didn't consider the possibility of doing the occasional theatrical rerelease.

In fact, a limited run of EE LOTR movies in theaters every 3 months until the Hobbit would probably be a decent moneymaker.
