Elf Blu Ray in Canada

So I have been patiently waiting for the release of Elf on blu ray.. Such a great christmas classic. Anyways.. On this site it was said to be released on October 28th. So i went into FutureShop and Best Buy and both of them said that they didnt have it till the 4th.. so I waited another week.. and then they said it was pushed back till the 11th.. SOOOO very patiently i go in on the 11th and they say that because of the holiday they dont have enough staff to get all the movies out and say to try back on thursday.. well I went in today (thursday the 13th) and the kid said they had 7 in stock. So we looked and he said hed check in the back.. then he comes back and says he cant find it.. that its a mess.. so i ask him to check again.. 20 minutes later he comes with a copy of it in his hand.. FINALLY.. but wait.. I get to the checkout and they say that its not released till the 18th and cant sell it to me. COME ON!!!! so i go to future shop and they tell me the same thing.. Does anybody know why this is happening? on both futureshop/bestbuy's webpages they say release date 11th Nov/08

happens, different regions,different release dates, Its been available in the USA for a few weeks now. I would say import it but Amazon charges import fees now so........

Hopefully you can buy it next week

Personally, I find Future Shop to be hopeless. I've had very similar experiences to yours there before at the FS in downtown Vancouver (including one incident with a John Hiatt CD that was actually out on the shelves, but when I went to buy it they said it wasn't supposed to be released for a couple of days and wouldn't sell it to me). The service is horrible. I would never shop there if I had a reasonable alternative, but it's very close to where I work and their prices are generally better than HMV (especially for BDs).

I just checked the FS website, and they are showing Elf on Blu as being released on November 18. Amazon.ca says the same thing, so I guess the date was moved as it was originally Nov. 11. Maybe they'll get it right next week.

It happens unfortunately. Has happened to me numerous times where I've gone up to the register only to be told "Sorry, we can't sell this until next week." In fact, I remember one time they had a damned-near empty 8-foot long new release shelf at FS, and had 2 DVDs on there that weren't to be released until the following week. Future Shop is terrible for this.

Is anyone able to tell me if Canadian Elf (barcode 065935842606) is region/ zone free? I'm sure I read that the US version is, but I can see that there are a few differences between the discs such as the language options.
