They Live By Night is the one I am most pumped for from those confirmed clues. Then Jeanne Dielman and then Ghost World.

Criterion has been on a Coens trend. Hail Caesar is a possibility.

Someone at the Criterion Forum's thread mentioned that the bottle of Poison could be Todd Hayne's Poison. I hope this is true since the DVD is a terrible transfer and not anamorphic. It's a definite for the Marseilles trilogy (Marius, Fanny,Cesar) since there are Blu-rays for screenings via the Janus Films webpage.

Using that photo in this context. Lol.

And please God let it be Klute. I need to retire my tattered blockbuster DVD already.

He's not going out of his way. It's a common response to the film. The racism, sexism, and rape aspects are well known and publicized. Doesn't mean you can't like the film of course, but to outright dismiss that view of it and to assert he's reaching is categorically incorrect.

The are confirmed to have Andrei Rubilev, The Mirror, and Stalker (stalks of corn?) so hopefully one or all of those is on slate for 2017.

Are the waving hands an upgrade of Peter Weir's The Last Wave?

"Sixteen Candles" getting a Criterion release would be bizarre. Not that I particularly mind the film or most of Hughes' work, but they're not really films that need the Criterion treatment, if you know what I mean. Just seems a waste of time to me. Maybe next Criterion can give "Dutch" or "Curly Sue" a proper release.

If Criterion is prepared to go on an 80s comedy jag, they need to honor C. Thomas Howell's groundbreaking performance as Mark Watson in Steve Minor's avant garde masterpiece "Soul Man" with the full Criterion treatment. Or give Tom Hanks' career-best performance as restless raconteur Rick Gassko in Neal Israel's "Bachelor Party" the true recognition it deserves with a possible two-disc Criterion edition. "Bachelor Party" is a prescient, hard-hitting examination of man's desire to do blow, scope out bodacious babes, and just f**king party brah.

The Dress might be Alex van Warmerdam's The Dress from 1996. Released by Home Vision on DVD.

The notes might be Music in the Air from 1934.

I'm looking at this NY drawing.

The only thing I can see is Sixteen Candles.

Does anyone know all the clues on there yet?

It will help me decide onto what to get this year in the B&N sales.

I'm still trying to catch up on last year's releases.

McCabe and Mrs Miller is supposed to be good, right?

Seriously?

1) it just came out, so no one knows ALL the clues yet;

2) read back a few pages.

Not trying to be annoying or anything, but that statue is not of Julius Caesar, but Augustus, the first emperor of the Roman Empire:

He was Caesar, just not Julius Caesar.

Which makes me think that it's probably not a reference to the 1953 Marlon Brando Julius Caesar picture. It might be the Coens' Hail Caesar.
