Default Bad reviews of classic films...

Last night I watched Goodfellas for something like the one billionth time and today I was curious to know what its Rotten Tomato score was.

I mean who could possibly be contrarian enough to give a classic film like Goodfellas a rotten rating?

For the most part, there's always someone.

And for Goodfellas, along with two other anonymous nincompoops, it was this guy...Jospeh Funking McBride. Any relation to Danny? No way. No way Danny McBride could share the same blood as this dork.

the world would be a better place without asinine reviews and creepy avatars.

We can't really do anything about the past reviews unless someone is savvy enough to erase them from all databases...

but, Ray, you can do something about that avatar... do it for the forum! Do it for the world! Do it so little kids don't have nightmares....

I don't see what the problem is. Some people don't enjoy some movies. Even if those movies are classics. What's wrong with them having a different opinion?

That will never happen my friend.

I for one do not like GoodFellas.

In fact, I don't think I enjoy any Italian mafia film where the main focus of the film becomes the circulation of drugs rather than the close familial bond.

For example, The Godfather is great. Part 2? Not so much.

Here is a (now) famous clip of Siskel & Ebert taking down a fellow critic who came out against the Star Wars films...

A review is just an opinion. Doesn't make them right or wrong.

Siskel and Ebert were both wrong about David Lynch's Blue Velvet.

It makes them bad at their job in certain cases.

There are plenty of classic films that I don't personally like very much, if at all.

But very few of them that I would give negative reviews to if I was attempting to write an objective critical analysis. Because despite a review being one critic's opinion, there's still room for objectivity in it.

Just because I didn't like a movie or wasn't entertained by it, doesn't mean I think it's a bad movie or that it didn't accomplish what it set out to do. Roger Ebert has written about this at length.

The idea that any film critic would look at a film like Goodfellas or Citizen Kane and conclude that it's a bad movie, is not a legitimate analysis in my view.

...it's elephant dung.

Insulting age groups and now stating your opinion as superior to everyone else's. Gee, I wonder what's next, Ray?

To me, Goodfellas is like The Godfather (both of them), Ben Hur (the original of course) and It's a Mad,Mad, Mad,Mad World...they are in that small group of the perfect movie. However, there are 2 other movies often put in that group that I can't get into no matter how hard I try, Citizen Kane (yet I LOVE a Touch of Evil) and Gone With the Wind.
