As a newcomer to SRL; I'm having a blast. I just hate Destiny's physics. What with being nudged one little bit and going flying into a wall only to be stuck there for a few seconds while everyone passes you. Other than that, it's pretty damn fun and a really nice change of pace in a shooter.
Also having fun with Strike Scoring. Got Nova Mortis and Abbadon yesterday, still waiting on Icebreaker ![]() |

Just noticed this thread has passed 1million views
![]() For comparison the closest thread to this from the current era is the PS ORBIS thread with just over 228k views. The only thread with more views is the trophy leaderboard thread which has been going for 7 and a half years! This game really is like crack |

I haven't played this game in close to two months and I couldn't be happier.
This game has rapidly gone downhill, in my opinion, to the point where nothing I do on it is rewarding. There are only so many times I can raid and kill the same bosses in the exact same strikes before I have to take a step back and ask myself what the point of continuing this vicious cycle is. |

The weekly story content could keep things fresh over years if that's how it works out. I actually can't remember the last time I played. Think it was around August/September. |

The base game introduced a fascinating world of guardians and monsters. We became aware of the mysterious Traveler, we traveled across solar systems before entering The Black Garden and putting an end to the Darkness, and lastly entering the Vault of Glass where more mysteries lie and where there are more questions than answers. The bulk of the gameplay is learning the world, completing bounties to level up, teaming up with friends to play strikes and gain Legendary Material, and raiding for that Level 30. The Dark Below was great, in my opinion. It's probably because I have an unhealthy fascination with Omnigul and enjoy the game's shift from the Vex to the Hive. The raid, while short, was totally different compared to the previous raid. Much of the gameplay was similar to the base game but there were more opportunities to do it. Here is where the game started to go downhill. A Fallen inspired expansion where rumors of a raid proved false. Instead we got an expansion focused on Skolas, the big bad kell, where our mission was to capture him for the Queen. The reward? Five rounds of redundancy in the Prison of Elders. It was the only opportunity to do something new but it ultimately proved to be the most thoughtless thing possible. As a result, most of the player base resorted to Vault of Glass and Crota's End to maintain some form of communication with one another and connection to the game. Year 2 struck and we were awarded with the largest expansion to date. We were tasked to bring down Oryx, the vengeful father of the slain Crota who was hellbent of revenge for his dearly departed son. We were introduced to a new species, the Taken, we were given quests, new strikes, and a brand new raid. King's Fall is the longest raid to date but perhaps the least rewarding due to the poor loot system. The quests were long and tedious and everything felt like busy work. So much better than House of Wolves, however. The next expansion can't even be considered an expansion. It was literally patrol work and a strike. Prison of Elders returned in a Taken-fied version and proved itself even less interesting than its predecessor. Similar to Year 1's end, the only way to maintain any sort of attachment to the game was to continue running King's Fall for the maximum light level. Year 3 comes and we get an expansion dedicated to the Iron Lords, a fascinating group of the best warriors that we've been aware of since the game launched. This was a really cool expansion for me initially. I've always loved the Cosmodrome but found it to be rather lackluster in the grand scheme of things. The raid was entertaining the first few run throughs but the fact that it can be speed ran in less than thirty minutes on HARD is a joke. The only fresh content afterward has been a Halloween event, the return of SRL, and more recycled content. I imagine the spring update will see the return of Prison of Elders again or more recycled content, the old raids revamped with SIVA. I really love learning more about the lore in the game. I just find the produced content to be very thin. You play five missions, you complete a few quests, you level up a bit, you raid, you do it all over again on other names, and then what? Do it all over again the next week. I was drawn to video games because of their incredible stories and gameplay. I want to end something in a game and say something to myself like, "Wow, that was a great experience. I can't wait to dig into it again." Unfortunately for myself and many others (including my close group of gaming friends), this game feels like a chore each week and we've decided to stop playing. The main reason why I play video games is to be entertained and have this great experience. I've always blamed Bungie because they continue to change things in both PvE and PvP to the point that it becomes frustrating. I mean, the base game was repetitive but at least we kept playing in an attempt to get such things as Level 30, Fatebringer, and the like. You don't even need to raid now to hit the cap. You can simply buy your way up to 390s through vendors and hit 400 with exotics thanks to the abundance of Three of Coins that one can purchase now. I also think that their Silver system has ruined this game a lot too. You can purchase your way to victory rather than earning something after putting in the hours. Before I end my rant, I'll say I will more than likely play again when new content (i.e. an expansion is released). However, I want something long and engrossing. Walking from point A to point B, killing a few monsters, killing a mini boss, and jumping into a raid after completing a handful of quests so that you're close to the level cap (Rise of Iron) isn't going to cut it. I've never played Halo but if it's as good as people say it is, then Bungie really needs to get back to that level of quality. |
