That was back when actors actually worked. They didn't have years off between movies. They got one done, and immediately started on the next one. OK, I'm getting off my soap box.

Some do.

Actually would be a good thread topic for discussion (Hardest working actors in Hollywood)

I am in the theater waiting for the movie to start and they just showed a great Blu-ray commercIal. A good marketing strategy, specially since Q of S is a Song movie.

The opening song with Amy Whinehouse sounded terrible. The opening car chase was so-so but it was pretty good after that. It felt more like a Bourne movie though.

It did not make sense that at the start of the movie they act like they are part of some big secret organization.. then the movie focuses on some shmuck who doesn't come across threatening at all. That was biggest complaint for me. The bad guy was lame.

HAHA! Somebody can't read credits! It was Alicia Keys, not Winehouse!

As to the movie.. i was kinda disappointed. plot was all over the place and wasnt fluid at all. good action scenes though

I've seen that commercial a few times on TV. It's not bad, not bad at all.

The song wasn't tooooo bad, but it wasn't that good either. I really liked the song in Casino Royale. I thought that one was perfect.

I have 11:15AM tickets for tomorrow. I actually am glad they didn't make this a 2 hour plus movie like Casino Royale. I think 1 hr 45 min to 2hr hours is idea for a movie. CR seemed to just not know how to end.

I watched Bond QoS last night. I took Bill Hunt's advice and rewatched Casino Royal (did my homework). This recommendation really paid off.

I thought QoS was awesome. Perhaps people would have enjoyed it more if they called it Casino Royale II because as we know QOS is really part II of CR.

I think that the next Bond is going to be really great now that everything has been settled and this young Bond has some maturaty and experience under his belt.

I hope that Craig signs on for the next Bond.

Just came from it. It's hard for me to express my feelings on this. I liked it and I didn't like it.

Let's start with the not liking.

I didn't want to see James Bourne, but James Bond. What was great about Casino Royale is that the action was in service of the story. While not as gratuitous as previous Bonds, it looked like they tried to cram too much action in lieu of character development.

Honestly, I don't think any of the characters (outside of Mathis) were interesting and therein lies the fault. There could have been a lot with the Greene character, but it was never fully developed. What was even the reason for the Anatoly guy's character, he did nothing? Same with Agent Fields. None of those character's contributed to the plot.

Somehow I have a sense that there was a much more developed story that got lost in the editing and directing. I have to agree with what someone said above, it's better to have a director that has done action before or understands the genre.

Plot:

Plot had potential, particularily the hidden discover, but for what purpose? What was the plan? How far up the ladder does Quantum go? We still have no idea of who's behind Quantum and just what they are tied into? To me it just seemed an easy cop out as opposed to telling the story.

Anyone besides me feel like Arnold had a really weak score? He's done so well since he came to the series, it's a suprise this one seemed such a fall off from his previous work.

On the other hand, what I liked:

Craig.

Daniel Craig shows that he really is the modern Bond and that he's not afraid to get violent and be an assasin. Not saying he doesn't use his brain, he's just not afraid to use his brawn.

I'm glad they didn't have one of those stupid plot devices like a laser or something for world domination like so many films have fallen into in the past. It's a relief to see a serious Bond with some serious action and a continuation of the new tone of the series. For the character of Bond, I was glad to see the conclusion, where you could see he'd learned from some his errors previously in the film.

I am anxious to see where they take the next 2 installments of the series. I'm confident, it will still be worthwhile so long as the tone of these past 2 films is intact.

im pretty sure he has signed on for 3, like Pierce Brosnan did, but has the option of doing more if they feel he is still taking it in the right direction (or the direction they see fit). This is why Brosnan came back to do Die Another Day

If you have not seen this, you must. It is so funny, especially if you like Brosnan more than Craig haha

Default The film that didn't quite deliver

I want to come out and say that I did enjoy the film, but it left me wanting. The movie was dripping with potential but failed to really deliver in the end. Casino Royale was such a solid base to work from, the action sequences were mostly fantastic (if a little frantic), and the story to be told seemed to be heading in the right direction. I think where the movie really went wrong was when they tried to give the organization a 'dastardly deed' for the film to focus on. We already knew that Quantum was an evil organization... just get to learning about them already.

*Vague, if important, spoiler*
I mean really... the Bolivian water supply? Not quite sexy enough...

Up to the movies midpoint, at the opera, I was happy with the movie's direction and pace... then it fell apart from there. I read a review online where they said that the script was rushed because of the impending writers strike... seems like the most logical reason for the sub-par story.

Saw this film yesterday, after having watched Casino Royale.

Personally, I liked the film. I liked how Bond is still carrying a torch for Vesper, but doesn't want anyone to know. I liked how he's trying to cope with the emotional loss with Vesper's death. QoS is a great continuation of CR.

Probably the only thing I didn't like about this film was the opening song. Simply hated it.
