Hi, has anybody received the UK release yet? My copy seems to be riddled with picture quality issues, and was wondering if other owners of this release are experiencing the same?

so the steelbook is available but the standard blu/dvd combo isn't out til March 13th (as seen on Amazon.co.uk's website - and which I've preordered) or are they correcting it ?? I'm confused ...

No, that's right. Steelbook available now, regular release a little later...

actually, yeah... but with the less than stellar reviews - I doubt Eureka will fix some of the flaws the steelbook has, this sounds like a faulty transfer

If this is down to the HD master, Eureka won't be able to fix it, and any release using this master will have the same issues.

Can you provide some links to those reviews? I just took a look at the caps from DVDBeaver's review, and it looks pretty damn good. He also was very pleased with the transfer.

The Video

Metropolis arrives on Blu-ray in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio encoded in AVC at 1080p resolution. The 2001 anime film, which was done on 35mm, looks gorgeous here. There are a few frames where some minor source damage can be seen, mostly in the darker fills, and a bit of film softness is present, but for the most part the image looks clean and organic with good colors and detail hasn’t been smoothed over.
edit: One member posted on here that he wasn't pleased with it on his 9' projection screen:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=30

I doubt most are watching it on such a large screen, which would no doubt enhance source limitations, so I'm not overly concerned at this point. Would like to see what others say, but honestly, just looking at the caps, I can't imagine most watching it on a regularly-sized screen will have much problems with it.
