Have to admit there were some breathtaking compositions in that spot. Hopefully this will be the sequel we've all been waiting for.

Here's the official video from Paramount and in 4K quality. Nice surprise.

Also on Vimeo, with better compression and download options.

Michael Bay bids farewell to Transformers franchise with heartfelt letter to fans!!

Quote:
I’ve been living in this franchise for over 10 years now. For Transformers: The Last Knight, we put together a writers’ room designed to greatly expand our mythology, integrating our films in a whole new way. Every movie will interlink.

It was a huge task to expand mythology from the beginning of the world throughout history. We had a great team of writers: Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind); Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man); Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down); Zak Penn (Ready Player One); Lindsey Beer (Barbie); Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider); Christina Hodson (Bumblebee); Steven DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville); Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lost); and Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man).

Through the summer of 2015, they worked in a huge space on the Paramount lot, surrounded by over 10,000 concept images from the franchise’s history: the movies, cartoons, and comic books. They had a life-size Bumblebee, a Megatron head, and many other props staring them down. We pulled from everything. It was a fan’s dream room.

We brought in Transformers historians from Hasbro to educate them on where Transformers has been – so that they could figure out where it can go.

I can safely say that there’s never been a Transformers film with the huge visual scope and expansive mythology as this movie, The Last Knight.

It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make-A-Wish kids that visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out.

Reading those writers and their work in order is hysterical: A Beautiful Mind, Iron Man, Black Hawk Down, Ready Player One... Barbie?

Or that these movies are gonna continue being a tonal nightmare. I mean, I enjoy the heck out of them (or at least the first three), but they swing wildly from end-of-the-world stakes to testicle jokes.

Good riddance. He did okay with the first two but after it just seems like he gave up.

Who in their right mind believes that Michael Bay won't make another Transformers movie?

I swear, if that moron says that one more thing, I think I'm going to choke myself to death. I have the same reaction to this as I do every time James Cameron opens his mouth. These two directors deserve to be in a class all by themselves because of the size of their damn egos.

Let's recap, with just about every Transformers movie that has been released, Michael Bay has said "this will be my last Transformers movie". Every time he makes this statement, makes me roll my eyes at the ceiling. It's practically become an internet mime. But then, Paramount and Dreamworks throw him a ton of money and be breaks down and does it.

James Cameron isn't the same but he's just as bad. He seems to think that "Avatar" allows him to make any kind of comment and slam any kind of director without any backlash and it all started with his lame comments about the 3D technology. While I agree that 3D shouldn't be a gimmick for every movie that comes out, Cameron made it sound like he alone created the technology. If it exists, and a movie studio and/or director or producer wants to use the technology, then I'm happy for them.

Just wait for it, Michael Bay will announce by next year that he'll be returning for Transformers 6.

My thoughts exactly. Michael Bay just needs to tell Paramount "enough is enough". Instead, what we get is Paramount throwing a lot of money at the director and each time, I can only imagine, the salary is even larger than the last movie.

What Paramount and Dreamworks needs to do is start working on G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Rom The Spacenight ... where are these other properties that we have been promised? It's time that Paramount start working on these other properties.

Like Walt noted but everyone seems to have glossed over, he MIGHT be done; he didn't Definitively say he was done with the franchise.

He could sure, but with Paramount throwing blank checks at him every few years, would You move on? --- you might Say yes, but I highly doubt it, or even that Most people would when you can pretty much write down a number on a piece of paper, plus back-end points, and the suits say, "Ok!! See you in a year or so!!!"

I love how the article mentions that this latest "confirmation" of Bay leaving is actually a bit of a backtrack from what he said a year ago.

Given how many times he's said current movie is his last one, I wouldn't believe it until a 6th film actually begins shooting with another director at the helm.

Michael Bay is a ***** to a big paycheck is what it is. Paramount needs to stop asking him to return for a new movie and let a new director come in. They need to stop flashing large paychecks in his face. They act like he's the only director in Hollywood and he isn't. Fresh blood is needed for this franchise becomes it's becoming stagnant.

Michael Bay makes movies. However, I wouldn't say he makes good movies. They're not bad movies but I wouldn't exactly call them great either. The only notable acting in the Transformers movies has been the great Peter Cullen. The rest of the cast is very forgettable.

Just played the 4K clip on my TV and it looks phenomenal - and it's only 8-bit SDR 709! The actual UHD Blu version may well give me a braingasm.
