^ Is this the new TLE Films 4K mastered version? Release date: 22nd February. Am curious as to whether it will have English audio and optional subtitles. Thoughts? |

No English = no sale. Shame. A definitive release needs an English surround track. If this is the new 4K master, hopefully it will also have a release in other region B territories.
Edit: Would be nice if Arrow could release it in the UK. Last edited by SymbioticFunction; 01-19-2017 at 02:06 AM. |

first comments from hard forumers here in italy after cinema's projections of 4k remaster: very very very good PQ with finally correct grading and gamma and also good AQ (italian, of course)... before beginning of the movie a short Argento's introduction about the goodness of the restoration... so can't wait for BD release at the end of february... i'll give update on audio set and subtitles as long as i have infos about it.

Based on some of my own research and the comments of restoration experts, the closest we've had to the original color timing prior to this restoration is the Anchor Bay DVD. With what little footage/screenshots I've seen from the Kaiser restoration, it appears to match up nicely with said DVD and it is said that it was matched to the answer print as close as possible.
What's interesting is that the images released so far of Synapse's effort don't have much in common with the DVD or the new Kaiser restoration, which leads me to wonder what they are using as reference? |

I was just about to post the same thing. Plus the last two words at the top of the cover ("Versione Restaurata") translate to something like "Restored Version". |

"Restored Version" doesn't mean a thing, you know.

pretty sure they'll use the new master, only hope they won't screw up the encoding...

If you've never seen the film in Italian, it's worth checking out for the final scene. There's a difference in the
[Show spoiler] . It's only a minor difference but it's much less hokey and more sinister of a scene because of the changes in my opinion.

You don't end up thinking to yourself: "Yes, we know you're Helena Markos, and we know that she's just tried to kill you."
