American Honey came out on blu ray today! No sleeve, but includes UV code.

I'm intrigued by this but I've also heard very mixed opinions. Reckon it's safer renting this first?

I thought it was the best film I saw in the whole of 2016 personally.

I would say yes to renting. I personally enjoyed it, but I would say that it isn't for everyone (or even most people). It also clocks in closer to 3 hours.

That is the correct ratio the 'brilliant' director decided to shoot the film in.

I checked the trailer and it was in 1.37:1, but the Amazon version I tried to watch was literally like an iPhone vertical video. Distorted too.

Got a refund for the rental.

Robbie Ryan shot it, and he knows his stuff. In fact, I'd say the cinematography was the best thing about this film.

Clearly the "fill my screen" mentality has exteneded to tablets and phones now.

Also, the Academy ratio for this film is wonderful and suits the material.
