Have I missed something about Glennon? I just don't get this craziness. QB market is just completely broken, I guess.

A league source told the Cleveland Plain Dealer the Bengals want a second-round pick "at least" for A.J. McCarron.
"We'll listen to whatever anyone is thinking," said the source. "We're not actively looking to diminish our football team by trading A.J. McCarron and that diminishes our football team. It has to be something we feel is valuable enough to warrant doing that." The Plain Dealer believes the Browns will make an offer for McCarron if they can't land Jimmy Garoppolo or Tyrod Taylor, in that order. Browns coach Hue Jackson spent time with McCarron in Cincinnati.

Let me clarify; I would give no higher than a 3rd rounder, but even that is a stretch. I still believe Browns need to stick with RGIII/Kessler, and actually protect them to see what they can do.

Willfully paying ANY backup QB $8mil a year is pathetic.

You don't pay backup QBs more than maybe $3-4mil... and that's only if they're a very good backup. Depends on the circumstance. Even $3-4mil for a backup is pretty steep.

We just re-signed Matt Cassel to an average salary of $2.6mil.

$8mil is unheard of and the Bucs are lucky Glennon said no.

You know the cap is higher and it would be a small percentage of the cap right?

I'm aware. And I'd say the salary cap bump is irrelevant to an $8mil salary for a backup QB. $8mil for a backup QB is a massive cap hit. You could literally use that money for an elite level starter at most positions.

Maybe one day that's where the backup QB market will be, but that's absurd in the current market.

8 million isnt terrible, than he makes a lot and you can trade him for a 2nd round pick if he does well. If not your a contender in your division with a quality back up. I mean glennon is rumored to grab at least 13 million a year.

Hmm there are backups that make 6-7. But like I said 8 mill ain't that much. They value him a lot and the cap will continue to rise. This isn't the NFL of five years ago.

I believe there's only one backup that makes $6-7mil. His name is Chase Daniel. And the Eagles were incredibly stupid for that signing IMO.

Who else is there? I'd be surprised if anyone else made more than $4mil.

Romo is on the books for $24.7 million, isn't he?

Foles would be making that much if the Chiefs keep him, but like I said before. The cap has went up. More than 10 million, so it might look outrageous when you see the number, but at the end of the day it's not really that much of a difference.

He doesn't count as a backup. He was given that contract to be a starter, not a backup.

Lol, in your opinion obviously. You said the same thing about the Eagles keeping Bradford and they parlayed that masterfully into a few picks.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with Daniel, as teams might get desperate, and sign Foles to a much lower deal.
Even if they don't, I'm very happy to have Daniel there as another QB coach for Wentz.
