Bucs fan here. I'm pretty sure he was offered that contract as a courtesy since he's been a good sport about being a backup for years. He wants a chance to start and they figured he would decline. It'll possibly set a higher market for him.

He's going to get a much better offer than $8 million a year on the open market. There are some very QB desperate teams out there. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got a $18-$20 million per year range structured in a way to protect the team if he doesn't perform well.

Looks like Mike Williams is definitely #3 now. I still like Williams despite his not running at Indy(says he will run at Clemson's Pro Day). Maybe Philly can trade down a few spots and still get him, after Davis/Ross go 1/2? Edit: Now if that time goes official, what does he do with an entire island...courtesy of Adidas? ![]() Last edited by rickah88; 03-04-2017 at 05:14 PM. |

Looks like Cousins has yet to sign his franchise tender. Setting aside for a moment that Washington's front office might be the worst in the league, I am now wondering what Camp Cousins is thinking?
Assuming they are looking for a trade, that can still happen after he signs. What happens if he gets injured? Depending on the severity Washington could easily rescind that tag and then Cousins is completely SOL. Injury was the only thing he really had to avoid all last season to make this work out so well for him. The only way Washington comes out of this a winner, is if some team ponies up a truckload of picks. Because no matter how this plays out it appears two things are certain: 1) Cousins as already played his last game for Washington 2) Cousins will play one more season for Washington This whole situation is slightly better than a lot of scripted TV currently airing! |

In hindsight, signing Bradford worked... because Teddy Bridgewater died. Not because the Eagles were being smart. They lucked into it. If the Eagles had let Bradford walk, signed Daniel to that deal and drafted Wentz, I wouldn't have had an issue whatsoever. |

Philly was always going to trade Bradford. Once Minnesota came knocking it just hurried up that plan. Teams always overpay for QBs. Philly tried stockpiling a few and it has paid off, so far. Philly took a moderate risk last season throwing Wentz into the fire with about 5mins of preseason game time. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen with Daniel. Which would give, not only, salary relief but possible picks as well. That's just doing good business. So you, as an NFL GM, would have been better with letting Bradford walk for nothing? LOL! Thank God you aren't a GM. At least not for my team. ![]() |

But dude... seriously, stop spinning that Bradford signing as some genius ploy to trade him. Nobody does that. You guys signed him with every intention of him being your starter. Once you had Daniel and Wentz, things changed. But if you're suggesting the Eagles said "hey let's sign Bradford to a big deal and trade him for a 1st round pick" that's pretty ridiculous. Nobody on the planet thought Bradford was worth a 1st. Vikings were desperate and way overpaid. |

Please. Based on the bulk of your horrible prognostications here, you'd be a billion times worse than even Chip. ![]() The Eagles loaded up on QBs for the sole purpose of hedging their bets, and so far it's working out nicely. |

Wentz had a fraction of that talent and posted modest numbers. Both QBs will face the potential sophomore slump, of course Dak will automatically have the edge because Dallas was already built, whereas Philly is still building. Can't wait to see what Wentz can do once he has some quality skill position players surrounding him. ![]() |
