Default Why is this LCD over $5000.00 ?

I was just window shopping at BestBuy.com
and ran into this LCD....

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1209165527031

Why is it so much?

Gee, you could get a 46" Sony XBR8 for less!!

Oh and OT but anyone looking for an LCD then this is without a doubt the best deal......

Weather resistant design

All-weather keeps the TV warm in temperatures down to -24°F. Dual-fan airflow system keeps the TV cool in temperatures up to 122°F.

Watertight cable-entry system. Helps keep cables dry in any weather.

Antireflective coating. Helps eliminate glare for use outdoors and in bright lighting conditions.

Water-resistant remote with lithium-ion battery

Because a sucker is born every minute.

An installer friend of mine does several of these all weather sets a month for some wealthy clients, and believe it or not, a key selling point is the fact that it is water proof.

I don't know about you guys, but I love watching movies outside in the rain.

Not so sure about that reason....... people with pools, or nice "outdoor" living areas have very legitimate reasons for purchasing one of these......

Best-Buy wouldn't be my first place to purchase it from since it's only available online, but I don't think the price, or practicallity are really questionable here....

Yes, but not for $5000, when the cost is south of $3000.

Most of these "outdoor rated" sets are this expensive.......exactly for the reasons Naturephoto1 explained.

It would be kind of "creepy" at night to be wading in your pool watching "JAWS" though........

Especially if Bruce the Shark rose out of your pool.

There are much better deals out there than this. Best Buy hardly has any good deals compared to Amazon, etc.

In general id agree with you , however
The 46z4100 is more at Amazon
not much higher , like $20 ,the
$1799.99 price at Best Buy is VERY good.

Though if you are in a state that don't get
taxed by Amazon then that is the better route.
Here in WA we are taxed at Amazon.

As far as the 46z4100 goes , there are not many
LCDs out there that are better.

And the ones that are better are alot more money..
like 50-100% more that the 46z.

Without a doubt , the 46z is the best bang for the
buck right now in LCDs.

If I was gonna spend the money in the range of
the XBR8 id get a Pioneer Elite Plasma.

When I was in college we had a hottub just outside our fraternity and would watch vhs tapes on a "27 inch t.v. that we put in the window. That is one of the best ways to watch a movie This would be even better if you had that much money.
