Don't get mad at the bump; announced, but not in 3D. Really bummed.

Of unreleased 80s 3-D, this would've been by far the one I was most hoping for.

This is a really bad Sci-fi movie. However, I really enjoy bad Sci-fi. I originally saw it in a 3-D version at the local theater.

Would buy it without hesitation in 3D! No 3D means a pass.

I wrote to Mill Creek last year offering to assist in preparing 3-D masters of the remaining Columbia titles and to suggest a William Castle 3-D box set.

Fort Ti
Drums of Tahiti
Jesse James vs. the Daltons
The Nebraskan
The Stranger Wore a Gun
Spacehunter
Down the Hatch

Hopefully someone else can license these after Mill Creek, there's likely no chance of these titles getting the proper treatment with them at the helm.

Sucks seeing something shot in 3D released only in 2D, and people not caring about that. Just happened with The Creeps.

Default Let's write some letters

Please join me in writing to Mill Creek Entertainment to express your displeasure at this turn of events.

I am sure we will all be most respectful, but we should make clear that not only will we not be supporting this release, we will make every effort to talk others out of supporting it as well—including giving it poor marks on Amazon and other online retailers. And then let's follow through.

As best I can tell, the appropriate e-mail address would be support@millcreekent.com.

Their mailing address is

Mill Creek Entertainment
2445 Nevada Avenue N
Golden Valley MN 55427

I say let's send e-mails and letters. Double the pressure.

I doubt you'll need to do much discouraging for this particular title.

Touché.

Me, I happen to enjoy Spacehunter and would really appreciate owning a good 3-D copy of the flick. It is troubling that the film will at last appear on Blu-Ray in a form different from what its makers intended.

My intent is to communicate to Mill Creek that we 3-D enthusiasts are not passive sheep, and that their unwise handling of this title will certainly cut into their slim margins. And if we really do deluge them with correspondence, perhaps rival distributors will take notice and proceed more wisely when other vintage 3-D titles are licensed in the future.

Murphy's law, I actually would buy this one in 3D to watch it again. I have no recollection of it whatsoever although I know I must have seen it when it was released.

Mill Creek doesn't do anything with luxury. We're lucky to get a lossless stereo track out of them, much less a 3D restoration. They were, however, gracious enough to allow Twilight Time to license the Blu-ray 3D of The Mad Magician. Cooperation with other companies would most likely have been the only hope to see Spacehunter 3D on disc anyway.

In that situation, the 3-D master was already created. It would've been easy money for them, and perhaps it might've encouraged them to pursue other titles. Oh well.

But where they are not willing to make an effort, they really need to step aside and allow others to do so.

With this competing release on the market, they make it increasingly unlikely that this film will ever be seen as it was intended.

Is there a ready-to-go HD 3D master, or is it just the same one from the 2D DVD and HDTV broadcast with the wrong aspect ratio?

Email sent. Told them I'd pay a premium price for it in 3D, but won't even buy it for $1 in 2D.

This was out in theaters around the same time as Return of the Jedi- of course one weekend when my dad asked me what movie we should go see, I chose Spacehunter because it was in 3D and Jedi wasn't! I remember the 3D was great, though I hadn't seen too many others to compare it to. My dad still says it was the worst movie he's ever seen. The movie itself IS awful, and pointless to watch without the 3D! (We did see Return of the Jedi a week or so later, but of course in boring 2D. Never thought I'd be so lucky to someday see a movie that was both actually good AND in 3D!)

the fact that Mill Creek is putting a 2d only version of this film is very disappointing.

NO 3D = NO SALE!

Do not, I repeat do not support the blu ray release from Mill Creek.

I'm boycotting this 2d only blu ray release from Mill Creek.

Sony does not have a 3-D master but the 35mm left/right elements survive.

We'd be glad to do it (and can do it better and more economically than anyone else) but when you reach out and a company doesn't respond, what more can you do?

We're not hurting for projects but having seen the left/right 35mm elements at a lab just a few years ago, this flat release is ridiculous!

Darn. Was hoping to retire my field sequential DVD one of these days.
I'm gonna have to figure out a way to convert it Blu-Ray 3D format
and mask out the Japanese subs.
