If you've been following Leone's on home video for a while then you should know to never get excited for upcoming releases since the vast majority of them are insults to his legacy and should never have been released in the way they were.
I see no mention of the original Italian theatrical version (the real director's cut) being included. If they were to scrap that "extended cut" which goes against Leone's wishes (and is censored too) and replace it with the original cut then that may be something to look forward to. So far the only Blu-ray to include the original director's cut is the Italian Mondo disc but it isn't English-friendly. |

I'm very excited to see boutique labels like Kino, Scream, Arrow, Criterion and Synapse licensing more and more catalogue titles. They give us fans what we want; for example theatrical and uncut editions, original audio, original posters, original opening logos at start of films.
I do not mind at all paying $25-$30 for an edition I know I will be satisfied with. ALL studios should license out their catalogue movies. It's very obvious that they do not care one bit about them and when they do decide to release something it's usually barebones with no effort put into it. |
