Same here. Now that I've already bought the Ugly and the Bad, though, I'm thinking that this one will be the Good.

This is amazing news! At the very least I hope they can get rid of the weird green skies in a few of the shots

If you've been following Leone's on home video for a while then you should know to never get excited for upcoming releases since the vast majority of them are insults to his legacy and should never have been released in the way they were.

I see no mention of the original Italian theatrical version (the real director's cut) being included. If they were to scrap that "extended cut" which goes against Leone's wishes (and is censored too) and replace it with the original cut then that may be something to look forward to.

So far the only Blu-ray to include the original director's cut is the Italian Mondo disc but it isn't English-friendly.

Glad I'm not the only one who balked at the phrase "both cuts" when there are at least three distinct ones. The grotto scene is a cool scene, it should be included as a deleted scene. If they restore Tuco's beating, though, I could live with the grotto scene being in the film. Since it says "deleted scenes", I assume this is including Tuco's beating (which was not deleted by Leone) as a deleted scene like the previous releases, and the grotto scene (which was deleted by Leone) in the film itself, as previous versions which included deleted scenes did.

I wonder if it's safe to assume that Kino got other MGM Leone's as well?

Will buy for the superior theatrical cut; I have the theatrical DVD and the remastered extended BD but I haven't watched this movie in any form in YEARS.

Didn't see this announcement coming. Wow! Hopefully it's not still all yellowed up because I already have one of those.

I'm very excited to see boutique labels like Kino, Scream, Arrow, Criterion and Synapse licensing more and more catalogue titles. They give us fans what we want; for example theatrical and uncut editions, original audio, original posters, original opening logos at start of films.

I do not mind at all paying $25-$30 for an edition I know I will be satisfied with. ALL studios should license out their catalogue movies. It's very obvious that they do not care one bit about them and when they do decide to release something it's usually barebones with no effort put into it.

I don't think MGM's extended cut should even be a thing, it is a complete disgrace. The U.S. theatrical cut is also censored in the beating scene too. There is no excuse to leave the original Italian theatrical cut out of this set since it is the director's cut and the true original theatrical version, it should actually be considered the default version of this film.

I have the Italian Mondo disc and added the US mono track, but with alternate takes and some scenes longer, not all the lines are dubbed, so an all-English-friendly version of the Italian cut doesn't exist.

Yeah, I was going to import that IT disc until I saw that little issue.
