Default Recommend me a home theatre reciever!!

Looking to spend about $150-$250.

Has to have HDMI Switching and some type of HD Audio. I'm coming from an older Sony that has no hdmi inputs or hd audio.

Brands i like are Sony and Onkyo.

The onkyo would be a step up, its up to you, Perhaps you could find an onkyo 605 for under $250 and that would be a better receiver then the Sony 720. on amazon there is the Sony 920 for $321, that is a smoking deal. Your playstation is going to have to decode the audio anyways, so really its up to you as to prefference and price. Pass through is usually not a good thing because that usually means that the receiver won't touch the audio.

so considering i'll be using my PS3 to play my blu's, an Onkyo 605/606 or Sony 920 would be the way to go? Would i be able to get the highest quality audio from this setup?

In your price range, yes that is the way to go.

Edit: For decoding done by the PS3, I would also consider this. No onboard ecoding though...

Default Sony STRDG820 7.1 Audio Video Receiver

Sony STRDG820 7.1 Audio Video Receiver

I just bought my 2nd one from Amazon for $219.00. The price only lasted for less than a day.The first one cost me $325.00.
I put what I want into my Amazon wish list and watch the price change. I couldn't believe the price I got!
